Domestic Violence Outreach and Education Advocate/ Social Worker, Full Time position

The Outreach and Education Advocate is responsible for the daily operation of the outreach and education services and programs and is the primary staff responsible for the coordination and supervision of the agency's Volunteer Program, and YouthSpeak (Dove's school-based teen dating awareness program). This includes, but is not limited to, program development and implementation, intern and volunteer supervision and community outreach. The Outreach and Education Advocate reports to the Deputy Director. This a full-time, Exempt position.
Primary Responsibilities include:
YouthSpeak (Dove's school-based teen dating awareness program)
Collaborate with partner schools to implement YouthSpeak program and recruit students.
Provide support and technical assistance to students and schools to ensure successful YouthSpeak programming.
Provide training, consultation and technical assistance to partnering schools on domestic violence related issues.
Community Education and Training
Develop and facilitate internal and external presentations on issues related to domestic violence. This includes presentations to be used at area businesses, churches, and civic organizations highlighting the agency's services, promoting the volunteer program and emphasizing agency's need for funding and donor support from outside sources.
Organize and facilitate DOVE's 38-hour Domestic Violence Awareness Training at least twice per year.
Assess community need for services and education relating to domestic violence issues and develop and implement appropriate services or referrals.
Produce agency educational material on domestic violence and agency services and programs, including the creation of brochures, information packets, etc.
Participate regularly and represent DOVE at local, regional and state meetings.
Volunteer Program
Develop and implement short and long-term volunteer recruitment plan.
Interview and process prospective volunteers.
Coordinate volunteer placements including the provision of supervision, scheduling, and placement.
Client Services
Complete client Intakes and Needs Assessments and maintain a small caseload.
Provide coverage of victim service programs when assigned staff are unavailable.
Attend and participate in weekly case review meetings.
Participate in regular On-Call rotation for Emergency Shelter.
General
Provide regular supervision for assigned intern(s).
Complete forms and reports as required by the agency and funders.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in social work plus three years experience required, MSW strongly preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Bilingual (Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese and English) preferred.
The ability and desire to work with diverse populations including non-English speaking families, the LGBT community, and individuals with histories of substance abuse and/or mental health challenges.
Demonstrated crisis intervention, problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills.
Knowledge of child protection services and the criminal justice system.
Knowledge of trauma issues as they relate to victims/ survivors of violence and their families.
Experience working with individuals and families impacted by abuse.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Valid MA driver's license, reliable transportation and willingness to travel within DOVE's service area required.
Ability to effectively multi-task.
