I have worked with children my entire life as a social worker. When I was 4 years old I helped my mother when she ran a daycare in this same house. I have over 20 years experience working with children in many different ways. I have been a nanny to two different families, each with 3 children. One family had twin 3 year old's and a 6 year old son. I have been a senior camp counselor with a group of 12--4 year olds with only 1 junior counselor assisting me. We did "field trips" such as the bike path (I transported bikes), library for school projects, and more.
It removed a lot of stress and anxiety for the kids.
In addition, once I am your provider, I am available for additional hours at night, on the weekend, etc.
During vacations, I can be available for full days.
I am available for occasional morning routine fill-ins (sometimes parents need a break!)
Example: mom has the flu and getting the kids up and ready for school is difficult ¡
I arrived early at the home, got the kids ready, made breakfast, off to school, cleaned up and checked in and attended to mom.
Logistics:
The 2 families chose to rotate which house we were in after school (primarily for me to complete household tasks evenly for them, as well)
However, you could choose 1 house.
At the end of the day, I would transport the other family's children back home - or a parent would arrive to pick up. I even drove the kids to meet dad at the train station several times. Smile
In other words - you can be as creative as you like ... I can think of no other joy for me but to be able to make my part-time job being with children.
