Granite Academy seeks an experienced special educator to fill role of supervising teacher. Part-time employment is an option. The ideal candidate will have an initial license, 5 years teaching experience, supervisory experience and exposure to the state regulatory environment. Excellent communication skills are essential, as are technology skills. At the student level, the candidate must have proven experience successfully relating to and educating multi-issue (behavioral and psychiatric) private special education students, and the knowledge to help teachers address the differential instruction, curricular and behavior issues that arise in class. Multi-tasking ability is essential. Flexibility is a critical quality needed to manage an often student-driven environment.

Granite Academy is a small, 766-approved, 11-month multi-service therapeutic day school. We educate students with mental health and behavioral issues. Classrooms have 6-9 students.

Position involves supervision, team-teaching as part of supervision, training, unit planning, technology integration, IEP development, among others. Supervision and support are provided. An appreciation for working with diverse populations and a belief in high expectations is essential.

Braintree T station is 3 miles away, so a car is needed. Salary and benefits are competitive. Specific salary is dependent on level of preparation. We are a private non-profit school.

We value and reward commitment, self-directed learning, and dedication to improving the skills of our very deserving students.
