Increasing enrollment creates the need for a full-time special education teacher in a small therapeutic 766-school/ 11-month program. One year of teaching experience is required preferably with adolescents with psychiatric, educational and behavioral needs. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to work within a small, supportive, multi-disciplined team.
Granite Academy is a 766-approved, therapeutic day school, which educates students with mental health and behavioral issues. We seek a creative team player with ability to adapt and implement an established curriculum. Classrooms have 7-9 students with co-teacher and behavioral support. Position involves teaching, unit planning, technology integration, IEP goal writing, grading, etc. Supervision and support are provided. The position involves use of behavior management and structure within the classroom setting. An appreciation for working with diverse populations and believing in high expectations is essential.
This is a 11 month position. Braintree T station is 3 miles away, so a car is needed. Salary and benefits are competitive. Specific salary is dependent on level of preparation. We are a private non-profit school.
Licensure is preferred, but a waiver can be secured for the appropriate candidate.
