Most guys I know as well as myself, will take a number and say we will call, just to get out of the situation. We don`t want to hurt her feelings by just saying we aren`t attracted, or not interested. I enjoy flirting, even with homely females, but no real interest in it going any further than that, but don`t want to be mean about it. There is a female at work, that all the guys like as a friend and she never gets asked out, she is rather homely, but has a great personality. She gets pretty upset that guys will take her number at a club, but they never call her. It's not cheating....yet. Heading that way though. You say the only fault in this friendship is that they are the opposite sex. I can promise you that two guys don't send e-mails like that to one another. She is slowly seducing the man while she justifies it to herself by trying to convince him and herself that they are soulmates. This woman wants this fellow but she wants him all to her own and is willing to wait. She is biding her time.

This is the OP. Let me start by expressing my thanks to everyone who took the time to respond, either privately or publicly, even those one who condamned and flamed.
It's Thanksgiving, so let me give thanks to the world.

So what happened to day, Thanksgiving day:
- Husband and Wife were at wife's family house for the usual holiday show
- Single woman was at her family's party for the usual holiday show

They exchanged a few emails and a few text messages, where they exchanged pleasantries, and thanked each others for their friendship and for their mutual unconditional support.
Single woman and husband are businesspeople, not doing business together, but in similar industries, and business is challenging, so they serve as each other's friends and business counselors. If you are in business for yourself you might understand how this can be.

Now, let me restate something: you don't know who I am. I could be the wife who knows how to crack into hubby's email. It's not that difficult to set up an email account in a way that a 3rd party gets a copy of each and every email sent and received, without the email holder knowing anything, especially if the wife is more technical then hubby. There are a lot of women in IT, who are married to non-IT husbands.
And once you are around 40, with many years invested in a marriage that, except for this issue, is more than perfect, it is perplexing.

I could be the husband, who find himself in this situation, where he's got a friend, who happens to be a girl, but she's not a girlfriend.

I could be the single woman, still around 40, very pretty, used to have guys hit on her, say anything to get her into bed, only to find out that this guy is the real McCoy, he's just there, being a friend.

This is the email that single woman sent to husband today:

Thank you for being the person that you are, and thank you even more for sharing of yourself with me. This year has not been easy for me, both personally and in business, you know it all; what you don't know is that meeting you was the only thing that kept me going week after week, and seeing your smiling face greeting me each time we meet, hearing you talking with me (and not to me), offering what feels like a breath of oxygen in a caustic environment is very pleasant, addictive, and each time leaves me wanting more. I cherish every second we spend together.

You showed me not to question anything, and live each day at its best, and you were right, everything passes, our friendship remains.

We're at 60% of GDP with debt...the Japs are at 220% and their economy is about to blow up. We have a ways to go before we hit that level.

Instead, if the Republicans take control, they will foment hyperinflation. Bush was trying it in small doses as president.
Hyperinflation makes your debt worthless. It also pisses off everyone who holds your increasingly worthless debt.
So bread will be 20 dollars a loaf. Milk will be 50 dollars a gallon. And so on.
In that kind of depression, oil will collapse. Gas will be cheap. Since America drives the world's economy still, a sick America makes the world sick.
Europe will turn to Russia for support. All of our wars and ideals will be lost. Europe has to turn to the Russians...they already control most of Europe's energy.
The US will increasingly become irrelevant from a foreign policy standpoint. Our positions will seem quaint. We still have the big gun but without the money, the big gun is a meanigless thing.
The US will no longer be the reserve currency. It may be a basket of currencies or maybe the Euro by then. Since China will be the world power, maybe it will be the yuan.
China will take over Taiwan. US will do nothing.
In a depression the US will succumb to drugs like never before. We will punish illegal immigrants harshly but without the dollar, Mexico will collapse. They will still come here.
US infrastructure will collapse. Bridges crumble, few social services. No food testing. Corruption will increase.
Eventually, there will be a reset of the currency or a default on the debt.
The US will start over. We may lose Hawaii as a state. We may experience civil war. States will gain power as the federal government gets weaker in ability to drive its' will.
The US will become what Russia was in the 1990s.
We will eliminate pensions, union protections, environmental laws and other protections in a bid to get jobs moving and industry back. People will work for next to nothing. Starvation will be rampant. Airlines will be foriegn controlled. Autos will all be made by foreign companies. Forget ships. Forget planes. Forget tractors. All foreign made.
The US will be a nation of Walmart employees, accomplishing Henry Ford's design, because all they will be able to afford is Walmart quality, which will decline worse than it is now.
The US is on this path. There is no way to stop the train.
There are only a few options - default; hyperinflation; huge taxes and spending cuts or amazing growth, which would require a miracle.

Muggers attack near Quincy T stations

QUINCY —

Police are looking for a band of muggers who may have sought easy targets in people walking from Quincy’s MBTA stations after dark over the weekend.

The concern stems from two incidents an hour apart late Saturday night. Two victims, both Asian, reported they were beaten to the ground and searched for money before the assailants, who were dressed all in black, fled, police say.

Capt. John Dougan said the descriptions of the assailants matched up in both incidents and there were other similarities, leading police to believe the cases were linked.

At 10:57 p.m. Saturday, an Asian male told police he was attacked on Freeman Street.

He told police he was approached by two black males, both with thin builds and dressed in all-black clothing.

They demanded his wallet and then punched him in the face before taking off with a small amount of cash.

The victim refused medical treatment.

At 11:54 p.m., an Asian male walking home at Highland Avenue at Brook Street reported he was attacked and beaten by a group of three men – all black, tall, skinny and also wearing all-black clothing.

The victim said the group fled with the help of a fourth man who was driving an older model white Lincoln Town Car.

The victim suffered a cut on the lip, but also refused medical treatment.

Police believe a third assault, which occurred behind a Walgreens store on Adams Street late Friday night, was unrelated. Italso involved a group of attackers.

How Gore buys his "carbon offsets," as revealed by The Tennessean raises serious questions. According to the newspaper's report, Gore buys his carbon offsets through Generation Investment Management:
Gore helped found Generation Investment Management, through which he and others pay for offsets. The firm invests the money in solar, wind and other projects that reduce energy consumption around the globe...
Gore is chairman of the firm and, presumably, draws an income or will make money as its investments prosper. In other words, he "buys" his "carbon offsets" from himself, through a transaction designed to boost
his own investments and return a profit to himself. To be blunt, Gore doesn't buy "carbon offsets" through Generation Investment Management - he buys stocks.

Fascinating. So, as Dr. Global Warming travels the world in his private jet while spending 20 times the average American on energy for his home, all the time telling us its okay because he’s buying carbon offsets, he’s actually purchasing these investments from himself.
Furthermore, and maybe more important, Gore stands to benefit financially in a potentially huge way if more and more people buy into this junk science.

Also, if it's all about greedy, big oil trying to stop the "selfless" global warming crusaders, how come big oil is on board with the Global Warming hype & hysteria?
According to Exxon Mobil chief executive Rex Tillerson, the cap and trade nightmare being primed for passage in the Senate doesn’t go far enough – Tillerson wants a direct tax on carbon dioxide emissions, essentially a tax on breathing since we all exhale this life-giving gas.
Tillerson firmly expressed Exxon’s support for climate change alarmists in stating, “I firmly believe it is not too late for Congress to consider a carbon tax as the better policy approach for addressing the risks of climate change.”
