Systems Engineer and Architect (1777)<br>
Overview:<br>

Calix is looking for a highly experienced Systems Engineer and Architect for network management, operational support systems and element management of access devices within the cable and Telco industries. This position reports within the product development organization and is primarily responsible for defining precise product and usability requirements, hardware and software, such that developers can efficiently implement the features and capabilities and verification testing can take place within Calix's market release process. These 'management' design requirements will be for both the access devices Calix produces as well its management system (CMS - Calix Management System). Moreover, this position works with the market units (MU) to understand market needs and priorities so that the product requirements and specifications developed tightly link to those needs and applications. Depending on the feature, capability, or product, an Architectural Design Document may need to be written either directly by this position and working with development or vice versa. On occasion this position will be asked to support customer opportunities and questions, support industry forums and trade shows.<br>
Responsibilities:<br>
	Specifies precise product requirements by writing and maintaining an SRD (System Requirement Document) <br>
	Develop Architecture Design Document (ADD) with development if required<br>
	Take a leadership role in guiding usability features in both the Calix platform user interfaces as well as the GUI design of the Calix management platform (CMS)<br>
	Ability to tightly couple market trends, needs and priorities with precise product requirements definition<br>
	Developing implementation strategies to ensure extensibility and competitiveness of products<br>
	Balancing MU application and feature needs with the design boundaries of the product<br>
	Understanding direction of the industry and providing technical input to development decisions <br>
	Participating, as needed, in either hardware or software design and development on the team <br>
	Making recommendations for protocol or application stack selections as part of new product development efforts<br>
	Provide leadership and technical direction in analyzing complex development issues such as: what technology to use, designing solutions for both cable and telco operational requirements that are thought leading, etc.<br>
Qualifications/Experience Required:<br>
	BS Electrical or Computer Engineering (MS Preferred) <br>
	3-5 years experience as a Systems Engineer and /or lead architect for NMS or OSS <br>
	Excellent verbal and written communication skills <br>
	Experience with full software product lifecycle<br>
 <br>
Specific Qualifications:<br>
	Extensive experience with full FCAPS (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security)<br>
	Skilled with back office OSS Integration (e.g., Subscriber/Service Management, Surveillance, Traffic Management, etc.)<br>
	Broad knowledge of third party OSS systems<br>
	Extensive experience with embedded OAM (for IP, Ethernet, ATM, TDM devices)<br>
	Experience with device management protocols and interfaces that enable efficient, maintainable, scalable and low cost design<br>
	Experience with SMS (Service Management System) software/systems <br>
	Desired: C, C++, Java, J2EE<br>
	 Experience in high-available, large-scale, Web-based service management applications<br>
	Strong experience in GUI design and usability<br>
	Experience in business intelligence tools such as Business Object and/or Cognos/IBM<br>
	Experience in Web graphical design, XML/SOAP, latest Web technologies<br>
	Familiar with TL1, CLI, NetConf, SNMP/RMON<br>
	Familiar with security protocols including Radius, SSH, SSL, SFTP<br>
	Familiar with TR-069 and NetFlow desired<br>
	Familiar with Telecommunications Forum (TMF) requirements<br>

The ENE position is the technical interface between the Global Services organization and all other company departments. <b>Qualifications:</b>
<ul><li>Minimum five-plus years relevant work experience.
<li>Undergraduate Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience
<li>Windows: NT, 2000, 2003. Should be proficient in configuration and troubleshooting of servers, Active Directory, domain design and CIFS/SMB. DFS, FRS experience a plus. 
<li> Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of NFS and network/server security, major NAS platforms and CIFS required
<li>Solid and demonstrated storage subsystem skills and storage vendor specific knowledge configuring and troubleshooting CIFS\NFS, primarily with Network Appliance and EMC Cellera and/or Direct Attached Storage.
<li>Demonstrated knowledge Unix\Linux. 
<li>Variants a plus (Solaris, BSD, Irix, AIX, HP/UX). 
<li>Should be well versed in configuration/troubleshooting of NFS and security. <li>Scripting, rsync, AFS background/experience a plus. <li>Storage subsystem skills and storage vendor specific knowledge configuring and troubleshooting NFS with SUN Solaris/SPARC and/or Direct Attached Storage.
<li>Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP and network troubleshooting of client to server issues.
