Position Overview:<br>
<br>
As part of the Merchandising department, works closely with buyers, suppliers and vendors to ensure consistent quality and correct sizing or fit of the products according to written specifications. This position ensures that Potpourri Group’s fabric quality and fit standards are met by providing technical expertise to the team.  This position coordinates the quality control processes between Chelmsford, MA corporate office and the distribution center in Whitinsville, MA.<br>

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<br>
<br>
Project management skills are essential in the thorough follow-up required for each step of the process.  One of these key steps would be the build of a specification and sample package to be sent to a vendor. <br>
Collaborate with in-house buyers and design team members and develop product sketches given their input.  Work out the final prototype of the fabric/textile garment or product to meet all collaborating members’ input.  Identify and develop written specifications for each product and each product variation.  <br>
Correspond and follow up with vendors, buyers and suppliers to achieve consistent quality and correct sizing or fit of products according to written specifications.  Oversee lab dip approvals. Resolve construction/fit/testing issues and recommend solutions to ensure consistent PGI fit and quality.  Obtain test results from suppliers’ evaluate and maintain test results; confirm care instructions.  Provide care/labeling instructions for each product’s fabric and trim contents. <br>
Be aware of and work with realistic tight deadlines in manufacturing.  <br>
Liaise with manufacturing team to call out any issues which may prevent timely fit and quality approval impacting delivery schedules.  Be certain to meet all deadlines. Communicate all findings on a timely and regular basis with the Buyer and GMM to whom the product was assigned.  Communicate status of projects on a regular basis. <br>
Final sample approval and follow up with in-house Quality Control at the Whitinsville, MA Distribution Center to ensure incoming products are technically inspected for fabric quality and fit.  <br>
Coordinate training/re-training for Quality Control Associates and Leads with the Manager of Inventory Control for each of the shifts involved; lead in the actual technical training for QC.  Coordinate QC processes between Chelmsford, MA office and Whitinsville, MA DC site. <br>
Work with the return reason codes to determine specific issues or problem areas and address each type of occurrence accordingly. <br>

Requirements:<br>

Bachelor’s degree in fashion design, textiles, apparel or related area or equivalent is desirable. <br>
Appropriate Certification with National Occupational Competency Testing Institute a plus. <br>
2 to 4 years of technical design and fit experience.  <br>
Previous experience evaluating fabrics/textiles and conducting fittings with sweaters, wovens and knits is required.  <br>
Experience in fit correction and drafting patterns and/or apparel import experience may be substituted for part of the time required. <br>
A thorough and demonstrable knowledge of the principles of fabric quality, color and care, as well as the essentials of BOM, fit, sizing, costing and garment construction, as related to women’s apparel and home décor. <br>
Past successful interface with suppliers, vendors, manufacturers in defining product specifications, providing follow up to ensure consistent quality of product fabric and fit. <br>
Intermediate working knowledge with MS Word, Excel and Outlook required. <br>
Experience with specification software such as PDM, Style Manager or related software. <br>
Ecometry software experience is also a plus, but can be learned on the job. <br>
Visual acuity (close and distant), depth perception, color perspective are required. <br>
Ability to see gradients of color/tone/hue and even minor flaws in fabric, textiles and tapestry <br>
