I have a 14K yellow gold diamond solitare necklace that I'd like to sell. I am the original owner, it was a gift from my mother. I was with her when she bought it for me - the NEW price was $1400 at one of the big name mall jewelry stores.

I just took it to a jewelry pawn shop, and the guy there said he could give me $250 for it, but that the markup is 300-400% on necklaces like this - so it would sell for about $800-$1000. He then said I could get more for it, probably $450 or $500 if I sold it privately, and that if I was going to sell it that was my best bet.

He also said generally in diamond solitaire necklaces they don't use the best quality diamonds, but that this one was pretty good. I don't have an appraisal form for it, unfortunately, I never got it appraised - but I can guarantee you it's real - I'm not here to BS people, I believe whatever you do comes back to you so I can promise you I would not sell fake jewelery, and that you'll be happy, and if you're not I'll give you your money back. Plus, we'll meet in person so you can meet me and see it before you decide.

I only wore it about three times, so you're getting a like-new necklace for about half price.

This ring comes with the original EGL USA Diamond Certificate and the original appraisal of $13,500 for the center stone and $3,600.00 for the mounting. I paid $7995 in August of 2007. Unfortunately, my engagement has been called off.
