Role and Responsibilities<br>

The Vice President of Engineering is a full member of the JAZD executive team and reports directly to the CEO. The Vice President drives the technical infrastructure on which the business is run, and manages the technology team, platform development and engineering budget.  This person is an enthusiastic technologist, with web 2.0 development leadership experiences and a proven business leader with a track-record of delivering projects on-time, a knack for translating business requirements into technology, and a strong desire to interact with all other areas of the business to make sure the technology continually meets the needs of our customers and end-users.<br>

This role is fully responsible for the implementation and management of all directory platform and office operations technical activities at JAZD.  Key areas of responsibility include:<br>

•	Platform Implementation – The JAZD Marketing as a Service platform is a multi-tenant Java-based application that supports the JAZD business model.  Engineering is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the platform to meet the needs of the business.<br>
<br>
•	Platform Architecture – Oversee, manage and improve the systems architecture of the platform and its extension via the integration of third party software, data and application programming interfaces.<br>
<br>
•	Production Environment – The platform and associated non-platform websites (blogs, static websites, etc.) are hosted in a secure data center which must be monitored and managed on a regular basis.<br>
<br>
•	Office IT Infrastructure – Engineering oversees office infrastructure including phones, wirings, corporate email, servers and desktops.<br>
<br>
•	Engineering and QA Management – All individual members of the team of engineers and IT professionals report directly to the VP of Engineering.  Work scheduling and project management is the responsibility of the VP of Engineering.  Current team size is 5 (2 IT, 3 Development).<br>

•	Platform Support – Support customers, end-users and the rest of the business with technical support on the effective use of the platform or in other areas where technology plays a role, including the rollout of additional marketplaces, training the rest of the business on platform use, or providing technical support in the day-to-day use of the platform.<br>

Essential functions of this position include:
<br>

<br>
• Design and develop content loaders for publisher data feeds and other electronic content sources. 
<br>
• Process electronic content to be posted to MFS. 
<br>
• Build and maintain scripts, applications and databases to facilitate Editorial workflow processes. 
<br>
• Support Editorial staff by performing bulk data operations and updates.
<br>
• Develop and execute batch queries to assist Editorial groups i.e., Serials, Checkin, Data posting, etc. 
<br>
• Bug research and resolution of issues assigned in Fast Bug Track, PIT, etc. 
<br>
• Participate in special, high-profile projects including planning, design, development and execution of processing and posting workflows. 
<br>
• Assist with creation and modification of Access reports for internal information exchange. 
<br>
• Perform quality checks of processed content. 
<br>

<br>
A Bachelors Degree or 3 years equivalent experience is required for this position. Competency with computer programming/scripting languages including SQL, C#, Visual Basic, Python, VBA, VBScript, etc. is preferred. An understanding of the fundamentals of relational database design with the ability to plan and apply database design concepts is needed. We are looking for individuals who are proficient in Microsoft Access, including database design, query syntax and report generation. An understanding of structured data formats (including XML and SGML) and XSLT and the ability to read and interpret DTDs and schemas would be helpful. Applicants must have a strong desire to learn and test new ideas. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed in this position.

Job Summary:  <br>
Responsible for deployment of the company’s suite of web-based business communication applications. This individual will drive all phases of the implementation lifecycle, from initial requirements gathering, specification, scope estimation, implementation and delivery of a notification application.<br>
<br>
Primary Responsibilities:  <br>
•	Deliver customer applications, including configuration of the core business notification service, testing and issues resolution, documentation, and other technical deliverables.<br>
•	Manage a portfolio of multiple concurrent customer projects.  Develop and maintain project plans and project documentation. Launch customer projects and achieve completion signoff within specified project timeline (ranging from four weeks to three months).<br>
•	Provide technical sales support to the sales team including presentations, contributing to RFP responses, and interacting with prospects throughout the sales lifecycle. Build and deploy demonstrations for prospects.<br>
•	Evaluate customer requests for features, competitive products, and internal requests.  Actively engage the Engineering team to evaluate product enhancements and issues.<br>
•	Provide rotating on-call after-hours first-line support once every 6 – 8 weeks.  Provide Tier 2 technical support during business hours as assigned by the Tier 1 Technical Support team.<br>
<br>
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Ability):  <br>
<br>
•	Proven track record in the successful delivery of enterprise-level projects for external customers<br>
•	Demonstrated experience in full lifecycle enterprise software development and deployment<br>
•	Experience with structured application development tools and practices <br>
•	Solid technical background in programming and scripting languages in order to learn and use a proprietary scripting/configuration language: HTML, XML, ASP, Web Services, or other Internet technologies<br>
•	Technical background with database technology: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or other SQL, and database usage<br>
•	Experience with voice XML desirable<br>
•	Ability to operate under deadlines and large workloads in a high tech start-up company or telecommunications industry<br>
•	Extremely responsive and able to communicate effectively with all levels of the internal and client organizations<br>
•	Demonstrated ability and willingness to continuously acquire new competencies and accept new challenges. Completes work with minimal supervision and meets established deadlines<br>
•	Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills <br>
•	Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills<br>
<br>
Education / Experience:<br>
•	5+ years directly-related industry experience preferred<br>
•	Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent degree in other disciplines is acceptable with extensive technical and work experience<br>
•	Experience in the Business Continuity market desirable<br>
•	Occasional travel<br>
