The brilliance of Christmas bells resounds as New England Ringers presents delightful concoctions of familiar and classical works on six octaves of handbells and seven octaves of chimes. Featuring three pieces from "The Nutcracker Suite," the program is a holiday feast for the eyes and ears. Endless energy and dynamic contrasts power an unusual arrangement of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen." The hauntingly beautiful strains of "In the Bleak Midwinter" are skillfully woven with the ancient sounds of Gregorian chant in "Unto Us A Child Is Born." "Catalonian Carol" presents a simplistic joy. Use of chimes and malleting suspended bells give an ethereal sense of motion and beauty to the beloved "O Little Town of Bethlehem." The rollicking "Holiday for Strings," Red Skelton television show theme song, entertains and enchants.
