Bonjour!

We organize a series of French/Breton dance/music jams
in the Greater Boston area called "Club Camembert."

The Dreaming Zebra Foundation is a charity that provides art and music supplies, and classes to schools, youth groups, mentoring and homeless programs, and other non-profits that cannot afford to provide arts education.

In this city alone, there are many children and districts who are waiting for instruments, papers, paints, etc., so that they can provide art or music class even once a week, for a handful of children, and this often occurs after school hours through the support of volunteers and donations.

We hope you will agree that as artists within the community, we have a collective responsibility to help support, and pave the way for today's creative youth.

If every person who reads this letter would give a single dollar, or the change laying around your house that you have forgotten about, rather than perhaps caring yet simply passing by . .. we could establish a free arts program today, or drop off the supplies necessary to support a mentoring program or after school arts class. Our waiting list grows longer every day.

Simply put - Balanced Hands represents a concentrated process in achieving equal hand development. It endeavors to realize this through a consolidated series of materials presented in an elevated progression. The approach is both simplistic and practical given its attention to the pacing of the material, practice time, muscle development, technique and musical application. It makes for a more efficient and productive practice session. The concept is designed to develop both the dexterity and flexibility of and between the right and left hands, namely, matched grip style. A greater sense of freedom and execution are enhanced, issues of right side versus left side are dissolved, and the playing process realizes itself as one smooth, continuous motion.

For those of you who already play match grip style, the approach will greatly help to advance your playing process. For those of you that have made the crossover or are contemplating switching from traditional to match grip style, this approach will help you come up to speed in a relatively short period of time. And, for those of you who feel comfortable with traditional grip, this approach will benefit your musical needs as well.

Given today’s musical trends and the growing demands in the drummers’ marketplace, the material presented in this writing will, in the short-term, help one to meet these needs, and, in the long-term, advance one’s own musical process.

About me: Former Berklee Professor with a Master of Music Degree in Jazz Composition and Performance from New York University. I am currently accepting students. Our influences are mainly the British and American beat music of the early to mid 1960's (Beatles, Beach Boys, Hermits, etc.)...but we're also very much into the classic performers and songwriters of the American songbook era and the 1950's.

We are looking for a very versatile singer (late 20's to early 40's) who can also play rhythm guitar. We already know 25 songs by various British and American 60's groups, and we have several originals as well. We welcome any writing talent to the band.

Three free voice lessons! Yes, that's right!...if you qualify (Allston/Brighton)

OK...so what's the deal, you're asking.

Well, I'm a voice teacher who gets $40 per hour for a lesson and that's great. I love doing it. I'm friendly, supportive, but demanding (in a nice way).

But I'm looking for a very special kind of student. Maybe you or a friend or relative of yours, that I'd coach for free up to 3 lessons just for the fun of having a great student. The kind who has a voice with potential, who wants to be a singer really BAD and is willing to work hard at it.

So, what are the qualifications?

1. You have to have, or believe you have, some kind of gift for singing that can be developed into a voice that people want to pay money to hear.

2. If you already have a voice that people are paying to hear, which I call a professional quality voice, you probably don't need me. But if you feel there's room for improvement I'd be glad, if you have a demo, to give you a free evaluation on what it is I think you need to work on.

3. The ideal student would currently have a voice coach or have had one or two in the past. Why? I'm looking for the challenge of being compared to other voice coaches...because I honestly think there's a lot of them out there that aren't that good when it comes to pop/soul/rock/blues/jazz/country, etc.

4. A flexible schedule is helpful. Weekdays up to 2pm are best for me. But for the right person I'd fit something in...even on a weekend. (Showing up, and showing up on time is important...missing a lesson means no more freebies...don't mean to be harsh but I want students who take their singing as seriously as I do.)

5. You want to be coached on anything but opera or show tunes...no offense intended because I love show tunes...it's just that there are already a lot of good teachers out there for that.

6. And now the BIG one - you actually have to have the time to devote an average of pretty close to an hour per day to practicing. That's my definition of someone who wants to sing. Practicing less than that to me is someone who WISHES they could sing...not someone who WANTS to sing.

Maybe the best of all the internet resources is called The Voice Council Forum which is a great place to communicate with professional and aspiring singers and voice teachers about improving their craft with anything that has to do with singing. There's a corporate connection for stuff that's available for sale but you can take it or leave it...there's no requirement to buy anything.

I want to retire early and start making music locally, maybe get a regular gig at one of the venerable music haunts. Late afternoons, happy hour slots even better so I can get to bed early :)

I love the aforementioned musicians. Their songs are perfect for a wide ranging audience. I'm strong vocally, very capable on acoustic guitar, decent songwriter, but am totally green. I'd like a couple seasoned veterans who understand PA's, Mics, Soundboards. I'm clueless. I want to fill out the band with a second guitarist (leads, fills,), fiddle or flute (multi instrumentalist), mandolin, bass, drums. Hopefully inject some youth into the project and a mix of genders. Biography:

Akousma's original members are Stavros Kartakis (Greece) and George Lernis (Cyprus). During studies at Berklee College of Music, they decided to start jamming on a regular basis. At first, the repertoire consisted of standards, but soon original compositions were added. The following year, auditions for a bassist took place. Hiro Sakaba (Japan) was the perfect match: His playing was original, contemporary and from the very beginning he enriched the tunes with his unique ideas.

In 2007 it was time to get ready for the first album. While rehearsing, the trio decided to find a clarinet player for a handful of tunes. Due to great technical abilities as well as his creative playing, Linus Wyrsch (Switzerland), a friend of Stavros, was chosen for the job. First rehearsals showed that he would fit perfectly with the rest of the band which was now ready to roll.

After recording their Debut CD "Here and There", Akousma added its most recent member, pianist Petros Sakelliou (Greece). Although starting as a substitute for Stavros, his skills blended so nicely that it was not long before he became a regular.

Akousma is primarily a Jazz Band, but it is not a rarity to hear them play Latin, Funk and other styles. What makes Akousma contemporary and unique, is an unusual instrumentation as well as a distinctive sound. Their first album called "Here and There" was recorded and mixed by Andreas Trachonitis at Mix One studios in Boston and released on January 15th 2008. It contains six original compositions by George Lernis and Stavros Kartakis.

Looking for a solid keyboard player. All styles are welcome with us, although we like to play music with a strong groove. Any and all influences are cool. Looking for somebody who can be devoted to practicing at least twice a week,(in Framingham, we have a nice studio), and have some creative ability to help write new, original music. We are not a Jam band, but we do incorporate lots of improvisation with the music.

We are currently guitar, bass, drums, and sax. After getting tight as an instrumental band we'll start looking for a singer. If you have an open mind about music, and love music, this is probably for you.
