Acanthus Publishing is looking for a detail-oriented person to support our editorial team effective immediately to work on revisions to a manuscript slated for publication early 2010. The manuscript is a memoir of a person related to boxing promotion and involves major sports figures from the 70’s.
Candidates should have some familiarity with the editorial/publishing process and a talent for structure and internal integrity of long-form manuscript. Those with backgrounds in journalism, creative writing, and English are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with boxing is obviously helpful.
Editorial intern responsibilities include:
-Supporting editorial staff
-Proofreading/copyediting eBooks, manuscripts, marketing collateral, and Web content
-Internet Research
The successful candidate will receive no editorial credit for the work and will not retain any intellectual property interest in projects worked on. You will gain invaluable experience in project management and manuscript development.
This is an unpaid internship that may be taken for credit and requires a minimum commitment of twenty hours a week between now and the end of the year. To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, and writing sample.
