Xplana Learning is looking for a Release Engineer with solid Linux and Java experience.
Major responsibilities:
This individual will work in a team of software development engineers to manage infrastructure and release custom software components for the company’s proprietary products. S/he will be responsible for planning software release activities, designing and implementing software architecture, and creating engineering documentation. These responsibilities must be performed in accordance with quality system regulations.
Skills / knowledge requirements:
The position requires the knowledge and skills normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in life or physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics. It requires 5 or more years of experience in software administration using object oriented programming languages and design patterns. It requires 3 or more years of experience in JAVA and technologies that have been constructed around this language to enhance application development. Must have solid hands-on experience using Continuous Integration Tools, Application Server Development and Deployment of Large-Scale Products, Change & Release Management, & Service-Oriented Architecture. Preference is given to candidates with experience in Eclipse Platform (GUI), Maven, Spring – HTTP Invoker, Ajax, Web 2.0, Continuum, Archiva, Artifactory, CruiseControl, JBoss, Tomcat, and agile software development methodologies.
Requirements:
Knowledge and understanding of many Linux Distributions (Redhat, Suse, Debian)
LAMP experience
Understanding of corporate Linux needs as opposed to administration
Understanding of network tech: routers, switches, TCP/IP, etc.
Expertise in at least on of: Perl, Python, Ruby, Bash scripting.
Server optimization, load and stress testing, and/or web application experience very helpful.
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent customer service.
Ability to manage multiple projects and change priorities.
Attention to detail
Ability to work under deadlines and meet goals set by management
