Crimson Life Sciences (CLS) specializes in providing language translation services to the medical technology industries (www.medical.crimsonlanguage.com).
CLS is seeking Desktop Publishing (DTP) Consultants to work in an independent contractor capacity to execute projects sourced out of our Brighton location at 167 Corey Road.
Important notes:
· This is a freelance opportunity.
· Consultants will not be working on design.
Responsibilities Include:
* Formatting and technical troubleshooting duties on multiple projects.
* Format multi-lingual documents according to project specifications
* Provide technical troubleshooting (including font issues, Postscript errors, network and printing, etc.)
* Provide advice regarding the improvement of DTP systems and workflows
* Actively collaborate with DTP Specialists
The competency requirements are:
Thorough understanding and demonstrated experience in at least 6 of the following systems, applications, and areas:
a. Mac OS 9, OS X
b. Windows 2000 and XP Operating Systems
c. Microsoft Office 2000 and higher (all applications, Mac and PC)
d. QuarkXPress (5, 6 and 7) (Mac and PC)
e. Adobe InDesign (any CS version)
f. Adobe FrameMaker 6 and 7
g. Adobe Illustrator 9, 10, and any CS version (Mac and PC)
h. Adobe Acrobat and Distiller 6 and 7 (PDF production, quality and troubleshooting)
i. Graphics (vector/bitmap formats, resolutions/quality, modification, conversions, and troubleshooting)
j. Fonts and Font systems (font types, encodings, character sets, and troubleshooting)
k. HTML, SGML, XML, or any other markup language
l. Multilingual desktop publishing/formatting
General Qualifications:
a. Experience performing DTP in a print production environment (e.g., pre-press, newspaper, book or technical manual publishing)
b. Verifiable problem-solving and troubleshooting experience in a production environment
c. Excellent communication skills
d. Demonstrated attention to detail
e. Knowledge of one or more languages other than English is helpful but not required
