Job Summary:
Works with Network Team on the operations of the network and infrastructure for the companies' offices. Serves as a member of the company-wide network team responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and support of data/voice network and server hardware and software, communication hardware including routers and switches to ensure systems are operational at all times. Monitors office systems to maximize operations.
Essential Job Functions
1. Under the supervision of the Network management, supports the companies' network operations and infrastructure to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Works on company-wide projects including the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing and modification of systems.
2. Must be able to design, support, and troubleshoot large, multilayer data and voice networks, supporting and maintaining all switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points and other networking devices.
3. Supports and maintains network security system (NOS) security analysis/reporting/administration. System administration responsibilities include backup and recovery, monitoring, problem solving, software installation, server builds and network device installation, day-to-day support..
4. Assumes responsibility for a variety of systems and technologies for remote access, internet monitoring, internal and external data traffic over the networks, end user connectivity.
5. Resolves operating problems as they occur on each system. Regularly produces, reviews and monitors log reports. Maintains liaison with external vendors as necessary to resolve system problems.
6. Monitors and troubleshoots networking issues to ensure data is being transmitted to and from all network sources.
7. Provides technical support to other IT staff members and users and performs system upgrades and preventative maintenance on office systems when applicable.
8. Serves in an emergency on-call (24 x 7) capacity and works closely with User Support to troubleshoot user problems and resolve system issues.
9. Travels to other offices to provide system support, troubleshooting and upgrade support as needed.
10. Assumes responsibility for maintaining the highest level of confidentiality of all firm records and files.
11. Participates in departmental project teams and task forces designed to streamline workflow and/or resolve issues; assists with various firm and/or departmental projects and initiatives as assigned.
12. Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in related field or equivalent technical knowledge. 3-5 years of related work experience. Working knowledge of Intel computer-based computer systems, Cisco LAN/WAN equipment, networking and storage technologies, topologies and operating systems in a Windows environment. Working knowledge of computer software, including but not limited to, Active Directory, the Microsoft Suite of products, graphics, databases, electronic mail, calendaring, document management systems and general office productivity tools in a Windows environment. Thorough command of the industry language and the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of technical and non-technical users. Must be proficient in all routing protocols including but not limited to BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, etc. Must possess QOS and VoIP knowledge including but not limited to Diffserv, MPLS, VPLS, DSCP, Traffic Shaping and Congestion Avoidance. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments, use initiative and judgment to accomplish results, work under pressure and complete job assignments in an accurate, timely and professional manner. Strong communications, interpersonal and customer service skills required and ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, staff and a variety of external entities including clients and prospective clients of the company. CCNA required, CCIE preferred
