Position Summary:
The Data Center Linux Systems Administrator will be a member of the Global Site Operations team supporting a growing company through Linux server administration, clustered systems configurations and network planning to support an exciting and dynamic Software-as-a-Service organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Manage deployed base of Linux systems in LAMP production environment
Provide project team support in system configuration and troubleshooting
Provide 24/7 support to ensure smooth operation of all systems
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
Plan, coordinate and implement network security measures to protect data software and hardware
Work cooperatively across the organization to identify and implement new ideas
Requirements:
The job requires a self-directed team player with a strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal/communication skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Qualifications include:
5+ years of demonstrable success in data center operations and/or Linux systems administration (RedHat preferred)
Server clustering/load-balancing and TCP/IP network administration experience
Experience with maintaining production datacenter systems and networks
Working knowledge of host monitoring and network security
Proficient at scripting at the intermediate level along with managing job schedules
Ability to think critically and employ practical reasoning to analyze complex problems, devise potential solutions, evaluate options and implement solutions
Ability to mentor other staff on Linux fundamentals and identify cross-organizational areas of improvement for the Linux environment
Experience with any or all of the following is a plus:
Prior success in an entrepreneurial software company using Agile methods
Implementing security solutions including IDS or HIDS
MySQL administration in a LAMP environment
ActiveBatch or other job scheduling software products
NetScaler or other firewall/load balancer technologies
Working with off-site/remote backup vendors
Prior success in a company focused on SaaS delivery
