World Ocean School provides educational programs for youth of all ages aboard the National Historic Landmark schooner Roseway and currently has a lead educator internship position open immediately through September (or beyond). The internship includes living and working aboard the 137-foot schooner in St. Croix, Virgin Islands and sailing with the ship to Boston in the spring, and Nova Scotia during the summer. Job includes working with students during day and residential programs, working with adults during fund-raising trips, and serving as a deckhand aboard the ship. Internships include room and board on the ship, a monthly stipend, as well as some tips during events. Applicants must be willing to be drug tested in accordance with Coast Guard regulation. This position works closely with the education director in organizing logistics and activities for student programs, time management and scheduling, as well as working with deckhands to improve activities and interactions with students. The Lead educator is responsible for facilitating the programs as well as being an educator. Applicants should be energetic, flexible, team players who enjoy living and working in a small and dynamic community.
