This position is designed to provide overnight awake staffing from 11:00 pm to 9:00 am, at the Putnam Place Program. The staff’s main responsibilities are to ensure the safety of the residents throughout the evening and to report any runaways or disturbances to the Agency’s on-call staff. This position is also responsible for reminding residents of their daily schedules, providing supportive and crisis intervention counseling, attending staff meetings and maintaining all program and resident records. The Overnight Milieu Counselor is responsible to and supervised by the Program Director.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure all residents are accounted for and safe throughout the evening by completing hourly rounds.

2. Provide supportive counseling and crisis intervention services to residents as needed.

3. Ensure all medications are dispersed and recorded accurately in medical log.

4. Maintain the program’s daily log book. Ensure residents daily activities, issues or problems are recorded.

5. Assist the Case Managers and the House Managers with monitoring the residents’ compliance with daily expectations as outlined in the Putnam Place Rules and Expectations Manuel, regarding chores, curfews, rules, etc.

6. Communicate with other staff and supervisors, particularly when giving shift report during a shift change.

7. Complete household chores in accordance to schedule.

8. Overseeing the medication system, to include:
a. Ensuring all medication has been dispensed correctly by reviewing the medication log on a daily basis.
b. Addressing any medication errors with the appropriate staff to ensure incident reports have been successfully completed.
c. Identifying when resident prescriptions are running low and to call refills into the pharmacy and notifying day staff of the need for them to be picked up.
d. Recording all medication brought into the program in the medication log.
e. Maintaining current medication log sheets on a monthly basis, or sooner, if needed.
f. Disposing of discontinued medication (in the presence of another staff person).

9. Maintaining the Staff Log, Residents Log, and Medication Log to keep them current.

10. Assist day staff with filing, as requested.

11. Assist the Case Managers with monitoring resident’s compliance with the service plan tasks and goals.

12. Facilitate informal group discussions with residents on a regular basis in order to establish a basis for communication about house issues, maintenance, schedules, and other program matters.

13. Maintain residents’ case records in accordance with program guidelines by assisting Case Managers with filing.

14. Attend staff meetings.

15. Assist in maintaining positive community relations.

16. Contact on call agency worker in all emergency situations in accordance with program guidelines.

17. Assist in daily upkeep of household appearance and repairs.

18. Provide whatever other assistance is necessary to the Case Managers to ensure that all program and reisdents' needs are met.




Additional Qualifications:

Must be over 21. Prefer 1 year experience working with adolescents.
