Hostelling International Boston seeks a Full-Time Program Assistant

NEW Boston Hostel overview:
Hostelling International Boston (HI-B) will open a new facility in the spring of 2012 in the Theater District of Boston. HI-B is a nonprofit organization whose mission is "to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling". Affiliated with network accommodations encompassing over 4,000 hostels in 80 countries, HI is committed to providing quality, low-cost accommodations to travelers of all ages.

Purpose of Position:
• Promote intercultural understanding among hostel guests by assisting in the delivery of
activities and programs which will allow guests to connect with other travelers and with the local community.
• Assure the local area community of travelers has opportunities to connect with the
organization and with hostel guests.
• Support the curriculum and activities that meet their needs of visiting groups
• Increase awareness of HI-USA hostels and programs in the community and world-wide.
• Assist in the coordination of volunteers.

Responsibilities:
A. Hostel Individual Guest Services
B. Group Guest Services
C. Community Outreach
D. Volunteer Management

Qualifications:
1. Experience working with the public (e.g. retail, service roles or administrative positions)
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas.
3. Experience working with youth groups preferred
4. Knowledge and experience of travel.
5. Ability to track data and complete reports
6. Proficiency in computer programs, MS Word, Excel, etc.
7. Excellent time management skills
8. Ability to work independently.
9. Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
