POSITION OVERVIEW: Nonprofit Search Managers at Commongood Careers are responsible for managing up to 10 searches at a time for a portfolio of exciting nonprofit clients. A Search Manager works to build and cultivate strong and professional relationships with hiring managers from the client organization, serving as a strategic advisor and helping them to develop effective hiring plans, conduct robust recruitment efforts and select the best candidates to fill their open positions. At any given time, a Search Manager is likely to be working on searches that range from Program Associates to Executive Directors, in major cities across the country from San Francisco to Boston, and at organizations with mission areas as disparate as education reform and nonprofit financing. Successful Search Managers are able to anticipate, understand and respond to their clients’ needs and help them secure the talent they need to fulfill their vision and potential by developing and implementing successful recruitment and hiring strategies and cultivating strong client and candidate relationships based on trust and unwaveringly high levels of customer service.
REQUIREMENTS:
- For each search in their portfolio, conduct organizational assessments, create appealing and effective job postings, develop detailed recruitment plans, and craft interview questions and screening rubrics.
- Review applications to identify the most promising candidates; conduct phone interviews to determine which candidates should be advanced to clients with detailed and comprehensive notes and assessments
- Engage and inform clients through weekly reports and meetings with hiring managers, providing updates, advice and recommendations for the consideration of specific candidates
- Continuously assess the trends and potential challenges arising in each search and proactively generate recommendations for improvements or enhancements to the strategy
- Utilize interpersonal and managerial skills to develop strong client relationships that are based on trust, communication, and a willingness to go above and beyond for the success of Commongood Careers and its clients
- As appropriate, participate in a variety of other organizational projects to enhance the overall effectiveness of our service model and delivery
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess many of the following attributes:
- First-hand knowledge of the nonprofit sector, preferably with an understanding of social entrepreneurship, and a passionate belief in the importance of the services provided by Commongood Careers to its clients
- Several years of successful professional experience in a role that required the use of strong project management, qualitative analysis, and communication skills
- Confidence in self-initiating and self-directing workflow; aptitude in balancing a vast array of projects simultaneously with limited support
- Innate client-service orientation and relationship management skills with outstanding time management and organizational skills
- Team-player with a results orientation, flexibility and a sense of humor who is looking for an opportunity to have impact across the sector while continuing to learn, grow and develop as a professional.
