Jewish Family & Childrens Service (JF&CS) of Greater Boston is a leading provider of comprehensive human services, delivering personalized and integrated care that improves peoples lives. Position Summary:
The Development Assistant - Events supports the Senior Development Associate in managing events for the development department. This is a good opportunity for a well-organized, detail-oriented, outgoing person who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking and managing many details.
Essential Job Functions:
Help plan and execute 3 major fundraising events, including the annual gala/benefit as well as several smaller events throughout the year.
Responsibilities include a wide array of tasks related to events, including helping to strategize the overall look and theme of the event, develop and disseminate save-the-dates, invitations and sponsorship packets, etc; manage the mailing list and RSVPs, and assist in management of the event itself.
Make calls to potential sponsors and guests, handle phone calls related to events and cultivate and steward donors involved with the event.
Maintain electronic files and orderly storage of event materials and archives.
Work closely with JF&CS program staff to carry out fundraising and program objectives.
Work effectively with volunteers and event committee members.
Assist with day to day efficient operation of the Development department
Educational/Experience Requirements:
College degree or equivalent experience
Event-planning experience helpful
Experience and skill recruiting and working with volunteers
Self starter with the ability to work independently
Knowledge of databases preferred (Donor Perfect or other fundraising database a plus)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (excel, word outlook and power point) required
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
