Her group left about an hour or so later. Mine in due course afterwards. I meandered back to the train to make my route home. The T is funny at night. Particularly when you're alone - there's nothing really to look at. You don't want to stare at other people, of course. And the floor gets boring after a while. I always end up watching my reflection in the opposite window. Usually it's a rote gesture, well practiced, that means effectively nothing.
But not so much tonight.
Tonight was a little more introspective. What do others see? I have nice eyes. I couldn't see them in the darkness but people tell me...although maybe it's the last refuge of a scoundrel; when there's nothing else to compliment, you point out the eyes. Irish - maybe comically or tragically so - with a torso too big for my legs. My people pulled plows and it shows on me a thousand years later. All the music talk made me flip through my iPod - maybe nothing too avant guarde but I like my selection. Between the time I got on the train to the time I started up my car I had listened to a bit of Phish and Low Strung (it's cello music). Maybe I don't know the newest, most cutting edge stuff - but I'm not single minded...
I love to travel, but am just as fine being home in shorts and a T-shirt enjoying some downtime. Friends and family mean a lot to me and I treasure the ones I have. Other hobbies include running, cooking (I love it, so it must be the Italian in me), hiking, skiing, dinners with friends, and spending time at the beach/mountains (which I can hit within 45 mins or so from where I live - got to love that!). I have to say I enjoy all New England weather. Don't get me wrong -- winter weather here can be bad, but it really does make you appreciate the other seasons. I also like to just get in the car and go and come across some new area with Mom and Pop shops and restaurants to explore.
