Not Your Typical Design Internship (Boston, MA)

About SCVNGR: SCVNGR is the world’s only enterprise-level geo-gaming platform. We provide the software and infrastructure to power location-based mobile games for institutions and individuals. These games, tours, interactive experiences etc… are played by hundreds of thousands of people via iPhone App, Android App, Mobile Web a fnd even SMS. Over the last year, SCVNGR has been purchased and deployed by over 500 institutions in 44 states and 2 countries with a client repeat rate of over 90%. Our clients are museums, conferences, universities, corporations, promotional firms, individual game-builders and even the U.S. Military (I know, cool right?). In our first full year in business we’ll do just over $1MM in revenue and are on track to do five times that next year. We’re venture backed by Highland Capital to the tune of another million dollars, have 20 full time employees and are basically taking the mobile gaming world by storm. Our month on month revenue has been growing by 40% consistently for the last year. Check us out in Business Week, TechCrunch and Forbes Magazine.

We’re hosting three programs this fall and are looking for talented, motivated and ambitious students looking to gain some experience working in a fast-paced, high-tech start up and actually make a meaningful impact (paper-pushers need not apply). The positions would be fall internships at our awesome offices in downtown Boston. (Yes, we do have a full sized pool table in the office and ride our bikes indoors to get from one conference room to the others!)

The program described below is for our “Not Your Typical Design Internship” program.

The “Not Your Typical Design Internship” program is a 3 month long experience for bright technically savvy design oriented students. We’re looking for one or two creative and talented students looking to design, create and build great user-facing products. You’d be working with our experienced design and tech to build some amazing new mobile apps and improve our existing product line. You should know HTML / CSS, enough JavaScript to get by (or be willing and excited to learn!) and be proficient in Photoshop and Dreamweaver. You should be driven by creating exciting and functional designs and be driven by the prospect of having your UI/UX work be seen by millions of people on a daily basis. However, given all that, we’re much more interested in you being bright, hardworking and motivated to do something awesome with your work with this fall.

The program will also include exciting learning opportunities that you can only really get at a high-tech start up. You’ll be fully engaged in the high-tech community up in Boston, attending lectures and speaking series with some of the best and brightest minds in the world, joining us at local events where we’re presenting SCVNGR’s novel algorithms or just listening to either bright individuals and organizations tout their achievements. We’ll be bringing in speakers from our VC’s other portfolio companies to talk about their experiences ranging from everything from sales to tech to how to survive on two hours of sleep a night (possible, but not recommended).

The whole point is that this when we say it’s “not your typical internship,” we mean it. You’ll be working hard for sure, but you’ll also learn a tremendous amount and get to experience life on the cutting edge of design and user interfaces in the high-tech world, all in a fast-paced start-up.

If you’re interested (and we hope you are), please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our company by visiting www.scvngr.com. Send a resume / thoughtful cover letter to jobs@scvngr.com.

We look forward to hearing from you.

We are a start up company looking to put together a creative team for an ambitious project focusing heavily on photography, fashion and fine art. This inaugural project will consist of a series of high quality fine art photo shoots for a large book publication in mid 2010. We need ambitious and creative people who are looking to build their portfolio, their resume, and who have a desire to establish themselves in the art world. We are putting together a creative think tank of anyone who may be able to contribute. Applicants must be self starters with good people skills and able to work as part of a creative team. Must be able to follow direction yet make decisions independently, often in fluid and spontaneous situations.

These are temporary three month project positions that may become permanent, depending on the individual's performance and overall success. Because we are a start up company and current funds will be going towards equipment, set design, props, rentals, etc, the payoff will initially be in the form of experience and having an opportunity to work on a project much larger than the average artist can afford to do on his or her own. Ultimately, part time and full time positions will become available, and they will be offered first to those who demonstrate their creativity and ability to work with a team during the initial three month period.

ONLY SERIOUS & RESPONSIBLE APPLICANTS APPLY.

To schedule a brief interview, please send your contact information along with a small paragraph about what you do and how you hope to contribute to the team.

Illustrious Illustrator Wanted (Back Bay)

Are you someone who is iconic (even if only in your own mind) at coming up with icon-like images of objects, concepts etc.?

IMPORTANT-when responding to this ad, leave ILLUSTRIOUS ILLUSTRATOR WANTED in the subject line, then put your name after it please.

Can you take a random fact about something and sketch it really fast? Can you come up with enough ideas to not be able to sketch them all?

For example, we give you a list of factoids about a product or service, you sit there and sketch out 3-5 rough ads that are completely different from each other.

Or we give you the basic overview of how we want a website to be streamlined and you can sketch several options of a layout, in the same day.

Does this sound like you?

If so, we have some money for you (for the client we have now, we have at least $5000 for you).

This means that if we choose you for this client, this will be a part time gig worth at least $5000. Our final deliverable is January 1st, so that should give you an idea of how long the commitment is. The process is developing roughs of multiple ads for same product/service and testing them, then taking the best rated of the roughs and finalizing them.

Please respond with links to your work, we don't care about your resume and probably won't even look at it. We don't care if you worked for this agency or that, in fact, it's better that you haven't gotten into the bad habits that you might learn at some agencies. We just need someone who has a sharp mind, great illustrative skills, technical proficiency and is as ambitious as we are.
