Expert LSAT Tutor / Attorney - 9 Years Experience - $50/hour (MetroBoston/Cambridge/Brookline/Newton)

I am a Massachusetts licensed practicing attorney, Boston College Law School graduate, and have nine years experience teaching and tutoring the LSAT and bar exam for Kaplan, Princeton Review, and others. I offer private one-on-one and group tutoring for the LSAT at my law firm's office or I will travel to you. Tutoring with me includes application consulting at no additional charge. I offer flexible options available for students seeking to prepare for the exam exclusively through tutoring or to supplement their commercial LSAT course with personalized instruction. I am available to work with you to get ready for the February exam or any of the following exams.

I will tailor your tutoring to target the areas you need to improve the most before the LSAT to get you to the score you want. Because I formerly worked for Kaplan and the Princeton Review, I provide a seamless incorporation of my techniques with their methodologies for tutoring students who have taken a commercial prep course.

HOW MUCH, WHEN AND WHERE?

My former employers charged students between $200 and $300 per hour for my tutoring, but I offer cost-effective tutoring for $50.00 per hour. You'll get the highest quality tutoring, tailored to your specific needs, at a reasonable price because you'll avoid the test prep middleman. I work with two to three students per term, so I am never too busy to focus on your needs and to respond to your telephone calls and emails. Depending on past preparation, most students choose to work with me for 1 to 4 hours per week.

Tutoring is available evenings and weekends at my Beacon Hill law firm (near Government Center, Park Street, and Suffolk University). I can also meet with you at your college, workplace or a library in most areas of Boston, Brookline, Newton, and Cambridge.

HOW:

My philosophy for LSAT prep is fairly simple.

Students make the most possible improvement by intensively practicing the material and getting one-on-one expert attention from a tutor who can identify a students' weaknesses and strengths, and then teach specific remedies for the weaknesses. Those remedies include timing skills, analytical skills, reading skills, and a sound education in logical reasoning. We'll work together on actual, official LSAT questions to understand:

1. the structure of the exam;

2. the timing of the exam - this is almost as important as substantive knowledge of the question types!

3. the most efficient and effective approach to answering the different types of LSAT questions.

I don't lecture, and I don't simply demonstrate how to do the problems. I will answer every question you have, give you specific feedback on your work, and won't ever move on until you understand and are comfortable with the particular skill covered. The test is my forte - I really enjoy working and teaching the exam (particularly logic games) - and we will develop a solid strategy to maximize your performance on each section of the test.

You will take a practice exam before our first meeting (if you haven't taken one recently), and then we will work together to diagnose your strengths and weaknesses, to determine if you need to work on just a few question types or many, and to craft a study and tutoring plan that addresses your needs. I will provide official LSAT materials to you at cost or we can work with the official LSAT materials you have from your prep course. I will also advise you through the law school admission process including personal statements, resumes, and recommendation letters - all included with the tutoring.

Please feel free to write with any questions or to get started. References available upon request for serious inquiries only.

Thank you,
Kristy

I am an enthusiastic and supportive personal trainer. Clients range from complete novices to elite athletes. I like to find the inner athlete in everyone--even people who've never set foot in the gym before. With my technical, scientific background, I manipulate a wide variety of variables to design programs to efficiently achieve clients' goals. Each training program is unique and customized specifically for the individual: there is NO one-size-fits-all. I think working out and fitness are vital parts of our lives. It's the best form of preventative medicine. This is my way to contribute to healthcare and to give athletes the competitive edge.

I believe that personal training (any fitness instruction: yoga, group classes, etc...) are forms of healthcare. It's important to keep the body in shape to prevent a plethora of diseases. I'm a HUGE science geek. I love biology, physiology, and health. I love knowing how your body changes and adapts to exercise on the molecular, genetic, and biochemical level. I think I'm a bit addicted to education, as I constantly find my self in school or keeping up on the latest research in the field. However, not only am I big science geek, but I've been playing sports and working out my entire life. I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old, through highschool and college, and presently. I've also been involved in formal fitness since age 15 years old. It's always been a passion of mine, an integral part of my life.

Locating websites that are related to one's own website is the primary task. Once there, he should be able to establish communication by personalizing everything as much as possible. It is then possible to make reciprocal link exchanges between webmasters whichever way the affiliate marketer prefers.
The 3rd methog is through writing one's own articles. This is an effective way in advertising a website, because good content that are appreciated by readers will lead them to visit the writer's very own website out of sheer interest. Once your article is written, being able to automatically submit your article to multiple article directories is essential for success.
ust imagine! In a few weeks or month's time you can comfortably hand in your resignation letter. You now have quality time to spend with your family whilst working from home. You become the envy of your friends when they find out that your paycheck is growing by the minute. Can you picture yourself buying more gifts and luxuries for your family?

You are now capable of satisfying your children's requests when Christmas arrives. Wouldn't it be wonderful?

This is not a dream. It would probably be, if you are not willing to give internet marketing a try. There are many other products aimed at helping people making money online, but haven't you noticed that they only give a vague description of the matter? They leave the underlying truth blotted out.

So wouldn't you appreciate it if you had a product that gave you a real step-by-step guide, with lots of illustrations and videos, on how to make money? Or wouldn't you want to have a forum where you could exchange ideas with seasoned specialists? I bet you would! Are you still folding your arms? Why not go into this marketing method and watch your bank account grow with dollars every month

One on one instruction in portraiture, still life and landscape in the comfort of your our studio.

In this traditional approach to drawing and painting, what will be taught and focused upon are perspective, value and composition in order for the student to develop strong visual language skills.

The program of study begins with a focus on intensive drawing, since drawing is the foundation upon which all great traditional art is built. Throughout this training, emphasis is placed on accuracy, or more specifically: seeing and rendering correctly such things as line quality, hard and soft edges, proportion, positive and negative space, abstract shape and form and the full range of values.

Program of study progression:

Demonstration of one, two and three point perspective
Creating the nine step value scale
Value study still life
Cast drawing in graphite and charcoal
Still life in full color
Painting the Landscape: *(Spring and Summer only: Held outdoors in the Fenway area weather permitting.)
The Portrait in charcoal
The Portrait in oil
$50.00 per hour
"Assaf is the real deal. He's everything you'd want in a guitar teacher. He's passionate, knowledgeable, flexible and highly skilled. Most importantly, he makes learning fun and exciting. I've had a couple of teachers over the years and most of them either don't know what direction to take you or simply take you in their own direction and stifle your creativity in the process. Assaf gives you room to breathe, allowing you to discover how to play the guitar on your own and develop your own style while giving you all the proper guidance in the process. He won't just teach you how to play the guitar. He'll make you think, learn and discover everything about the guitar."

"Best part about my progress, thus far? I've only been taking classes for a month. Already, I've seen a HUGE difference. The sky's the limit with Assaf. I'd recommend him to anyone."

你会说中文吗？
Do you want to learn Mandarin Chinese? Do you want to learn for personal fulfillment or for professional reasons? What is the best way to learn?

Let me tell you how I have been learning to speak Chinese. I work with a local Chinese tutor using Skype. It is great because the whole lesson is done in Chinese and she speaks very little English to me. Now, if you are a beginner and need a lot of translation, she is able to speak English quite well and can explain the meaning of sentences and words to you, but her philosophy is to keep the lessons in Chinese. She has a lot of resources and able to send you files to work from while you take the lesson. The lessons are also a lot cheaper than you can find in Boston. She is located in China where daily expenses are much cheaper so she can afford to make the lessons at a good price.

You can contact me at jedstephen@mac.com if you would like to learn more. I can put you in contact with Sara and you can start speaking Chinese!

Hello, my name is Marco, and I'm a recent Master's degree graduate in Mathematics from NYU that's looking to tutor. I can tutor in all levels, from basic algebra to trigonometry and calculus. Perhaps you need help studying for the math section of the GRE. I have experience helping people of all ages and I'm very patient.

I have experience as an undergrad tutor at Northeastern University in Boston, as well as being a teaching assistant for several undergrad math courses. I'm also a native English speaker (trust me, it's an important thing that's too often overlooked).

If interested, send me an email. My rate is $30/hour (cash only) and I generally meet people in the Medford/Somerville/Cambridge area, but I'll do my best to accommodate you. I hope to hear from you soon.

Girls' Angle: A Math Club for Girls (Cambridge)

Hey, Girls!

Learn math! Make new friends! Discover how exciting math can be!

Girls' Angle invites girls aged roughly 10-16 who would like to learn math in a friendly environment quite different from the school classroom experience.

Our mission is to nurture and foster girls' interest in mathematics and empower them to be able to tackle any field no matter the level of math required.

Girls work mostly with women mentors from Harvard and MIT. These mentors understand math extremely well and get to know each girl as an individual. They work on motivation and design custom exercises, problems, activities and projects for the girls to improve their knowledge and understanding of mathematics. There is always at least one mentor present who has a doctoral degree in mathematics.

Girls also meet professional women who use mathematics in their work to make interesting and important contributions to society.

Girls' Angle members receive the Girls' Angle Bulletin, a bimonthly magazine featuring interviews with women who use math, articles about math, fun math problems and more.

Our sixth session begins January 28, 2010. Register early and get a 10% discount!

For more information and a schedule, please see our website at www.girlsangle.org.

I'm a native-English speaker who grew up in an Indian family and learned Hindi in a structured manner through college courses and living in India for a year and a half. I have considerable experience teaching a variety of subjects to both kids and adults, and I would be happy to tailor a learning program to meet your needs.

I charge $20-30/hour (depending on the circumstances), but I would be happy to meet with you initially at no cost, to evaluate whether this would be an appropriate fit. I live in Porter Square, and can either host the lessons at my home, or we can find a mutually convenient location elsewhere.

Thank you.
“...Since I play all over Boston bars and clubs, everyone asks me how long I've been playing and they don’t believe me when I tell them only 5 years. They think I've been playing for half my life and are shocked when I tell them otherwise. I just tell them ‘my teacher is nasty as hell better than Clapton and Slash’. You did an amazing job and taught me well. Thanks...”

"...I've been super busy. I don't even have time for my real job so I had to quit. We are playing tons of really big good clubs all over New England and NYC on good nights with amazing crowds. Just got an indie film to give us a 10,000$ budget for our music video. Performed on xy.tv and gnyc-tv and planning on heading back to the studio...."

"Bilgehan Tuncer is a gifted guitar teacher. My focus has been on classical guitar playing, and Bilgehan's lessons, encompassing new music, music theory and composition, have been challenging, stimulating and fun."

"I started teaching myself guitar and memorized a bunch of chords, and I was playing tabs off the internet but then I felt like I sort of hit a wall. That’s when I decided to take lessons from Bilgehan. It was great, every lesson was very different for me. If he hadn't kept me interested I would have left. And as a fledgling songwriter he made it very easy for me to bring my compositions to class. He helped give them some structure and musical basis while at the same time teaching me new things that I could build upon. I'm in Europe now but if I go back to Boston I hope there's still a spot for me in the studio. Also he's just plain sick ask him to play anything in the world hell play it, dont sleep on Bilgehan Tuncer he's the best."

"Hey so I got into Berklee no problem. Thanks for your help, Ill be back in February, and I'm 21 now so I can check out some shows..."

"I´d go so far as to unequivocally declare Bilgehan to be the best Turkish guitar teacher I have ever had :). Aside from his obvious mastery of a diverse array of styles, Bilgehan is a brilliantly effective teacher. Blending theory and technique into every class, he eventually had me wailing on jimi solos (perhaps an exageration) whereas 12 open bars previously only gave me the willies"

Jennifer Howard
"Bilgehan is not only an amazing artist, but a fantastic teacher! He has such a great way with teaching that I found reading the music easy and fun . I progressed and accomplished more than I could have dreamed. And I've only been playing for 5 months. He meticulously watches where my fingers are on the guitar at all times, notices where I struggle when I don't even know I'm struggling, and can immediately zero in on the problem and pinpoint exactly what needs to be practiced to be able to move ahead.
He focuses on what you are interested in. But I didn't even know what kind of music I was interested in learning when I first went to him. Well I got so excited about the classical arrangements that I never would have figured I would enjoy playing. He has such vast knowledge of music and exposed me to a variety of pieces in the beginning, that it was easy for me to figure out what I wanted to do next. My vision of guitar in my life has expanded so greatly that I'm not only motivated to play kids songs for my children someday, but I enjoy the guitar for myself. Oh ya, easy to get to, and no problem parking to boot..."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jason O

"I have been a student of Bilgehan for a year and a half (and still continuing), and in that time my playing has evolved in ways that were completely unexpected. I began with an interest in classical technique and theory, and currently I have my own band, play electric guitar and bass, and continue to learn how classical theory underlies modern jazz and rock. Aside from his own technical mastery of the guitar, any of his students can attest to his superior ability to teach, to simplify things, to relate concepts and to drive students' interest despite the seeming complexity of some of the material. Furthermore, he uses flash drive memory to give you the lesson materials each week, no cumbersome books or emailing/printing files. He really is a superior instructor and has a talent for catering to your level as a guitarist."
Benjamin N Hazelwood 22, RI
"I had been trying to teach myself how to play guitar for about seven months before I started taking lessons with Bilgehan. After the first few lessons with him I had improved more than I had in the previous seven months of playing. Now I am playing better than I ever thought I could in such a short period of time"

"If you have the opportunity to take guitar lessons from Tony Savarino, run, dont walk, to his studio in South Boston. My guitar playing was stuck in a rut. That is until I met Tony Savarino. I really turned the corner in terms of my guitar playing after only a few lessons with Tony.

He is great teacher with patience and a sense of humor.

Tony is a wealth of guitar knowledge and you will benefit immensely from his tutelage. He is patient and breaks things down into understandable compartments of knowledge. At one point his advice to me was, Just Zen out on my lesson and you will learn it. I use that advice every time I pick up the guitar. He is the poet-warrior. He is the Shaolin monk of guitar teachers. He taught me to be patient with myself and learn the instrument. When armed with his sage advice, his patient teaching style, and his immense knowledge you will conquer your guitar." - John J. Leonard, CPA, MBA

What My Students Say:

"I have been taking lessons from Tony for about 8 months and can honestly say they are the best guitar lessons I've ever had. I took group lessons when I was younger and what I learned even in 3 months with Tony was 100 times more than what I got out of years of group lessons. I can actually PLAY songs now! And not the same old hokey old tunes I always had shoved on me as a kid; he will figure out whatever song you want to learn in about 5 minutes. It's really quite incredible: he just plays the song on iTunes, tilts his head and listens for a minute, and then starts playing and tells you what the whole chord sequence is. HE'S MAGIC!!!

Seriously, he's a really good teacher and not some old stuffy guy who is going to scold you or make you feel stupid & discouraged if you don't get something right. The cost has definitely been worth it to me. I'd recommend him to anyone who actually wants to learn what the heck they're supposed to be doing and advance beyond just fooling around with a few notes. I have to walk about 3/4 of a mile in the freezing cold to get to his lessons and I wouldn't do that if they weren't worth every cent.

Sincerely, maryelle"

"Tony is a great guitar teacher and a joy to work
with. I am very grateful to have taken lessons
from him. I tried several guitar teachers before
him, and I was almost ready to give up trying to
find a good teacher with the right skills and who
could teach me how to play the kind of music that
I wanted to play. Tony understood exactly what I
was looking for and he knew how to get me moving
in that direction. Tony has a great personality,
he really listens, and he has very effective
approaches to learning how to play the guitar.
It was everything I hoped for and more."
 -- Fred Sena

"I am a foreign student with a passion for the music and for the guitar. I was
absolute begineer when I met Tony. He is a great instructor because he teaches
with fun and at the same time he is very responsible about your learning.
Above all, Tony let me understand that playing the guitar is a process of
con"tinuous improvement and always gives me the right motivation to exercise
constantly." - Monica

"I would highly recommend Tony as a guitar teacher. He is passionate about his craft, and Tony understands how difficult it can be to be successful playing guitar. And its not just about learning one or two songs, but learning to play guitar, the right way. No two students are the same, and Tony understands each individual's strengths and weaknesses, but also teaches thoroughly and with patience. I have had a very rewarding and fun experience. Tony is truly an outstanding guitar teacher." - John Palmer

"If you're looking for an instructor who will take you to the next level based on where you are musically, Tony is your man, he has a great talent for identifying and teaching you what you need to get where you want to go." - Dave Yanolis

"When you take lessons with Tony, you're not just taught chords so you can play a Van Halen or a Nirvana riff. You're taught the fundamentals in a way that you become familiar, almost in tune with your guitar. If you find any other knucklehead that can do that, I'll pay for your lessons. Actually, I won't, but you should take lessons with Tony anyway. He's that good." - Jessica Green

"Tony at your core you are upbeat, cool, interesting and down to earth. I see every lesson with you as a tremendous opportunity as I am awed by your effortless ability to decipher songs and simplify the complexities of music theory. In lessons you can always offer a creative solution to mastering a lesson and you have never lost sight of my individual interests and goals. Your patience and enthusiasm have instilled in me an unshakable foundation of both inspiration and passion for learning and playing the guitar. Rock on Tony - I know that I could not rock the guitar as well as I do now without having learned from you." ~~Kayren Phillips

"Tony kicks the most ass of any guitar teacher out there. He is patient and encouraging, but in no time will have you playing things you didn't think you could play. He will give you a good music foundation while letting you learn the music you like the most. If you're serious about playing guitar, he's the man." - Ami E Albernaz

"I have been taking lessons from Tony for about 4 months now, and to say I have gone far beyond what I expected would be an understatement. He seems to have an innate feel for what the student is capable of, then reaches just beyond, to get the most from you...... I have not had one lesson where I did not come away feeling that I achieved something..." - Alan D.

"I've studied under four different guitar teachers and Tony is the first one that's been able to clearly explain how the different parts - key signature, chord progressions, scale patterns, picking technique - all fit together. My first lesson was six weeks ago and the guys in my band have already noticed a huge difference." - Glen Goland

"I have been going to Tony for lessons since this past spring and my playing has improved tremendously. He has helped me work on my left hand technique, improve my picking, introduced me to new approaches to playing various types of licks, and has helped me with my approach to learning other artistís songs. On top of that, Tony is an excellent teacher, an amazing player, and extremely easy to get along and work with" -David Schwartz

"Tony is a wonderful teacher. I've only been taking lessons with him for three months, and had never touched a guitar before - now I'm starting to play my favorite songs! Not only do I learn
the techniques and theory, but also how to develop an ear for the music, which is amazing, considering I had always thought I was tone-deaf. Tony keeps me motivated; he is patient, yet perceptively authoriative. Plus, his irresistible Sicilian wit makes the whole thing so much fun!" - Anneke Boese

"I came to Tony to try to improve my beginner-level guitar skills, and
didn't even know how to "learn" guitar. Tony was able to determine just
what my musical aptitude was, and what I needed to know, and he figured
out - better than I could - what I wanted out of guitar. His crafty guitar
lessons are actually a front for teaching me musical theory. Our lessons
are not just improving my guitar skills, but my overall skill as a
musician. All for the same low price! I love Tony Savarino!!!!" - Moon Mullins

I have appeared in The Boston Globe, The Boston Phoenix, The Noise, Guitar World, and Guitar Player For The Practicing Musician.

Lessons are taught in South Boston/ Fort Point close to the South Station T stop
