Learn with a guitar player and instructor with 20 years experience. I have taught privately and on the group level . I am a Berklee Aiumni and have a B.A. in music. I have studied classical and jazz guitar privately as well. I play in in a bunch of very diverse bands that are gigging and recording the New England Area. I am an on call session player for many of Bostons recording studios

Blues (intros, tunarounds, major and minor pentatonic soloing ideas, rythym playing)

Surf (Tremelo Picking, Learn to get a deep tone)
Metal (alternate picking, sweeping, string skipping, tapping, legato techniques, speed excersizes, crazy harmonics, rythym and drop d playing, 4-3-2-1 chops builder method I created myself)
Roots americana (finding cool guitar parts buried within the song, utilizing all your experience and techniques, to come up with tthe coolest guitar part, when to play and when not to play)
Funk/R&B (rythym excerizes and development of pocket playing)

I took group lessons when I was younger and what I learned even in 3 months with Tony was 100 times more than what I got out of years of group lessons. I can actually PLAY songs now! And not the same old hokey old tunes I always had shoved on me as a kid; he will figure out whatever song you want to learn in about 5 minutes. It's really quite incredible: he just plays the song on iTunes, tilts his head and listens for a minute, and then starts playing and tells you what the whole chord sequence is. HE'S MAGIC!!!
Seriously, he's a really good teacher and not some old stuffy guy who is going to scold you or make you feel stupid & discouraged if you don't get something right. The cost has definitely been worth it to me. I'd recommend him to anyone who actually wants to learn what the heck they're supposed to be doing and advance beyond just fooling around with a few notes. I have to walk about 3/4 of a mile in the freezing cold to get to his lessons and I wouldn't do that if they weren't worth every cent.
