The Counseling Center provides outreach and direct clinical services including: on-call management of psychological crises and emergencies, consultation to parents, Deans, faculty, and other concerned members of the University community, outreach activities and related programs, initial evaluations and psycho diagnosis, treatment planning, individual and couples psychotherapy, crisis intervention, group treatment, and referral services.

The position of Post Graduate Intern is a full-time, 12-month appointment in a busy college mental health clinic. This position is one of three postgraduate fellowships. Fellows will work alongside psychologists, social workers, and psychiatric staff to provide a full range of clinical and outreach services to the Tufts community. This entails clinical diagnosis, treatment planning, individual treatment, crisis management, referral, and consultation to parents and University administration as well as maintaining up-to-date clinical records for all client and other clinical contacts, including consultations. The Post Graduate Intern will also handle the provision of emergency services to the Tufts community and participate in overnight and weekend On Call rotation for psychological emergencies. This entails responding to requests for assistance in handling emergencies by Police, Health Service staff, Residential staff, academic deans, and other members of the University community; providing assessment and crisis management, assessing students for suicidality and harm to others, and hospitalizing students where indicated. In addition to the work outlined above, fellows will receive 2 hours of individual supervision and 1 hour of group supervision per week. Fellows will also participate in weekly staff meetings, clinical team meetings, and training seminars.

Basic Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree
2. Must be working towards a Doctorate in Psychology (PhD, PsyD, EdD) or a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW). The Doctorate in Psychology (PhD, PsyD, EdD) or a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) will need to be verified prior to date of hire, August 23, 2010
3. Three years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:Clinical experience in a college mental health setting is desirable but not required. Proficiency with Windows and word processing software is also helpful.

Special Work Schedule Requirements: On Call approximately 12 nights per semester, including two full weekends.
