You're funny!! My response was "out of line," huh? Well...

1. She actually sent me an e-mail saying that it was UNINTENTIONAL to leave VA off the list. You weren't offended that she left it off the list--congratulations. Neither was I. She got my sarcasm. You don't need to tell me how I should post. It wasn't directed to you so I don't care if YOU were offended. Someone will always be offended by EVERYTHING!

2. This wasn't an issue of geography, and you know that. It ain't got a damn thing to do with, as you put it, "people consider[ing] Virginia the Northern neck of the woods, not the SOUTHERN." You know damn well she was talking about Southern culture--Krispy Kremes/Bojangles/Chick-fil-a, good barbecue, freshly grown vegetables in the summer, hush puppies, dropping by unannounced, sweet tea and hot sauce (NOT the same as TABASCO, you DAMN NEW ENGLANDERS!!!).

3. To say Virginia is not part of the South is ignorant. "The South" is generally defined as the states that were part of the Confederate States of America. Or the Dixie states. Technically, since it was South of the Mason-Dixon line, the line dividing the North and South regarding Slavery, Maryland is sometimes considered part of the South. But since it didn't SECEDE, most don't think of it is part of the South. And before you start saying I'm calling her ignorant, like I said--she simply FORGOT to put Virginia on the list.

4. Fact of the matter is, I'm a SOUTHERN girl. Virginia IS the South, and I'm sick of people saying it isn't just because it's the Upper South. Just because Connecticut is at the bottom of New England and a lot of people who live along the southern edge work in NYC, does that make it actually part of the MID-ATLANTIC?!?! NO!! So whether you consider it the "northern neck of the woods" doesn't make a damn bit of difference. it's STILL HISTORICALLY PART OF THE SOUTH.

4. I ALSO was born and raised in Virginia—I probably got my driver's license before you were even born. This is the first time I've lived outside of VA and I miss the ways of the South. Believe me, I'm PROUD of being a Virginian. Whenever I'm asked if I'm from Boston, I say "I live in Boston. I'm FROM Virginia."

5. Since you ain't even lived outside the state yet, you wouldn't understand.

6. You ain't even up here, why do you care?

I wanted to comment on the response that was made to the original posting. I really think that person has a real issue. I didn't take offense to the fact that the person posting left off Virginia. You could have posted saying, hey I noticed you forgot Virginia. I mean your response was out of line!!! I was born and raised in Virginia, and still reside in Virginia.

I am proud of my state and being part of the south eastern part of the country....however think about this...most people consider Virginia the Northern neck of the woods, not the SOUTHERN!!!!!!!
