As a Release Engineer you will be responsible for software builds and releases. Responsible for the design and development of builds, scripts, installation procedures, and systems including source code control and issue tracking. You will work closely with the quality assurance team to support testing efforts that ensure the final product version is up to organizational standards. You will also work with development and non-engineering groups to support projects through the entire life cycle. The right candidate must be able to solve problems on the fly and get the job done with minimal impact on engineering, project schedules, and customers while following through with long term solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain process documentation.
- Document and closely follow procedures to improve efficiency and allow traceability.
- Support testing efforts in QA environments.
- Maintain source code, environment integrity, and package completeness (versioning, release instructions).
- Delivery of projects to QA in a coordinated fashion.
- Repeatable deployment of packages to the staging environment.
- Deployment or products to the live production environment.
- Develop required maintenance scripts and automation scripts.
- Integrate and maintain Dev and QA tools, such as Source Control, and bug tracking systems
Required Skills
- BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science or other technical field.
- 3+ years of experience with product deployment and configuration on 24x7 customer facing systems.
- Extensive experience in source control systems, such as Perforce, Subversion.
- Excellent organizational skills & attention to details.
- Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux platforms.
- Ability to work well with developers, test engineers, and non-engineering personnel.
- Proficiency in Perl, C++, SQL, bash, OO concepts is a plus.
