KPFF’s Marine Transit Consulting Group seeks an exceptional team player to help us execute planning, engineering, and management consulting projects with ferry systems nationwide. The practice area for the MTCG is waterborne transit and ferry services. As such, we provide management and operations consulting; long-range and short-term system planning (including vessel suitability analyses); program and project management; and terminal planning and design services. Representative clients include Washington State Ferries; ferry operators in the New York City metropolitan region; the King County Department of Transportation’s Marine Division; the City of Seabrook, Texas; the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency; and the Seattle Office of Emergency Management.

We are looking for staff-level candidates with an understanding of the maritime industry gained through any combination of academic coursework and professional experience. Degrees in engineering, naval architecture, urban planning, economics, and public affairs are preferred, though other disciplines may be considered. Required skills include financial and other quantitative analyses--as well as the ability to research, structure, and write clear and compelling documents.

KPFF is primarily a civil and structural engineering firm with approximately 900 employees, mainly in the western United States. We are currently ranked #108 among the Top 500 Design Firms by the Engineering News Record. Our office, also corporate headquarters, is located in downtown Seattle, close to the waterfront, the Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, and the new Seattle Public Library.

Although our practice area is relatively new to KPFF, the professionals who comprise our core have an average of 20 years of experience as planners, engineers, naval architects, and system operators. As individuals and as a team, we are committed to mentoring and to career-long learning and development. As such, we value a willingness to learn on the job, an ability to think and create across disciplines, and a sense of humor.

Those interested in this opportunity are encouraged to contact our Human Resources Manager, Evelyn Root, at hrseattle@kpff.com.
