Solar Design Associates Inc., a longstanding leader in the design and integration of renewable energy systems for buildings is seeking an experienced design / drafter with a passion for renewable energy and experience in ArchiCAD.

Qualified candidates will provide a contract fee proposal after review of the project scope. Tasks will include the development and revisioning of CAD drawings and construction details for a solar-powered residence under the supervision of the licensed architect and engineering team.

We are seeking a technically capable individual with 3-5 years of CAD experience focused on building technology, detailing, and production of construction documents. Some hands-on construction experience and knowledge of building electrical and mechanical systems are a strong plus. US citizenship is required. A high level of ArchiCAD proficiency is required. 3-Dimensional modeling and rendering skills are welcome but not essential. The successful individual will provide critical drafting and organizational support to staff engineers and architects in the design and development of this solar-powered residence and may have an opportunity for continued work on other renewable energy systems for existing or new facilities.

Solar Design Associates Inc. is an interdisciplinary team of dedicated professionals specializing in the design, engineering and integration of renewable energy systems for new and existing buildings, developments, and communities. Since its founding in 1974, the firm has earned an international reputation for aesthetically fielding medium-to-large scale renewable energy systems in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean. SDA’s energy-conscious projects incorporate passive solar heating and cooling, active solar thermal systems, and most obtain electricity from solar photovoltaics (PV) and/or wind turbines. Many of the PV and wind power systems are interactive with the utility grid, exporting surplus electricity to the distribution network; others, located on islands or in remote areas independent of the utility, use on-site electrical storage.

Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to work effectively from a home office with their own computer as well as in a team environment, addressing multiple tasks with minimum supervision. This position is in the greater Boston area.

Steel Estimator (Boston)

I am looking for an Miscellaneous Metals, Ornamental Iron and Structural Steel Estimator. I am a small but rapidly growing steel erector with the need for an experienced estimator. Someone who can do pricing independently and buying of the project after we are awarded the contract. Our average project size is roughly $2,000,000.00 but I need someone who can price anything from $1,000.00 to $5,000,000.00.
The qualified candidate will have at least 5 years experience bidding on private and public projects for union and non-union work. This may start out with you working independently on a project by project basis so we can both be comfortable with each other. If it works out we can talk about moving to the next level and setting up a long term relationship. I do not want to hold anybodies hand. I need so one who is aggressive with their pricing and chasing work but also tempered with experience and humility. I want someone who knows when it is time to walk away and move on to the next project.
I offer a turnkey steel sub contract. I price each job figuring to furnish, deliver and install all the steel. I am very competitive and I plan to remain that way for the long term. I am currently buying out the fabrication and detailing for each project I am awarded, however, in time I plan to build my own shop.

See my website: Apluswelding.com

So If you are interested send me an email and we can discuss further.

This position offers you the opportunity to help shape the future of a financially stable high tech company, focusing on next generation III-V semiconductor materials.
To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have a PhD in Engineering, Applied Science, or other relevant field, and significant experience generating new ideas and technologies in III-V materials and then translating them into viable products, including offsetting development costs from government and/or private funding sources. We're looking for a technical thought leader with a successful track record of influencing customers and securing funding. You also will need the entrepreneurial spirit to recognize market opportunities and translate them into viable products that can scale up.

While our preference is that this position be based in Taunton, MA, a candidate with the right mix of technical expertise and entrepreneurial savvy could be based anywhere in the US.
