We are looking for an after school nanny starting in January 2010 (the actual start date is flexible) for our two children (boys, ages 4.5 and 6.75 as of September). Our older son is in first grade and our younger son just started his first year of kindergarten. We need coverage 5 days a week however we are willing to employ a couple people in order to cover all the days. Hours will be from 2:30 pm (pick-up) to around 6:00 pm. Vacation days will be negotiated. Preferably, the nanny will be able to work extra hours during school holidays (that are not official holidays), early release days, and breaks. We would like a commitment for the kids school year which ends in mid June.

Applicants must be citizens or have a work permit and must have good references that indicate that the applicant is highly reliable and very good with elementary aged children. Applicants must be willing to do occasional dinner preparation. Non-smokers only. Good driving record will be seen as a plus.

We live in Cambridge, a 12 minute walk from both Central and Kendall Squares. We are a 10 minute walk from their school (normal mode of transportation is walk/bike). Our children love to play sports and to spend time outside in our backyard and at the area parks. They do not watch TV and only occasionally watch a children's video. The nanny will be responsible for interacting with our children’s teachers, arranging after school play-dates with other children, preparing for them healthy afternoon snacks, and accompanying them to scheduled activities such as sports practices. Days there are no planned activites, the nanny will work to keep the boys engaged in educational, creative, and play activities.
