Great Campground near water, within 2 hr. drive of Boston?

HI!
I'm getting excited for camping season!!!
I'm looking for referrals for a campground within 2 or 2 and 1/2 hours drive of Boston. What has been great camping for me is somewhere that you can get a site on the water's edge (ocean, lake, river, creek, whatever). I like enough room for some privacy. I'm not looking for a love-in, or to hear someone blast their gay music and yell like a moron. I just want to spend some QT with the people I come with, respect others having a good time and be respected. Campfire pit on the site is a must. Hiking and other activities accessibe from the site is good. We're pretty lazy campers. We just like to pitch our tents and hangout. Hopefully the town it is located in has some character and things are not too expensive.
