Director/Manager of Payroll Services
Our client a privately held $500mm+ Professional Services Company located in the Boston area is seeking a Director of Payroll Services. This position which will report to the Vice President of Human Resources is the Senior most executive in the organization who will be responsible for all Payroll processing and Payroll related issues for the Company. The organization has a number of operating units throughout the Northeast, and has both Union and Non Union personnel. The Company is investigating a change to a new computerized system for its Payroll needs, and needs an individual who can leverage technology, and who has experience implementing a new computerized Payroll system.
The Payroll Director will have responsibility for all Payroll needs for the Company including;
o Partnering and working with Divisional and Subsidiary Payroll Managers and Departments on systems needs and changes.
o Overseeing all aspects of Payroll Operations, using an in-house computerized system for an employee base of over 15,000.
o Oversee, advise and direct payroll operations to ensure that they are timely and accurate and compliant with all Federal and State laws.
o Develop a Corporate Payroll Strategy for near and long term needs.
o Develop and implement a Corporate strategy for Rationalizing all Payroll needs into a Shared Services model.
o Documenting a Corporate Payroll manual for use within all Divisions and Subsidiaries.
o Interface with External and Internal Auditors on all Corporate and Divisional Payroll issues.
o Ensure that all Payroll activities and systems are well controlled, documented and have in place strong internal controls.
o Liaise with all Subsidiaries and Divisional General Managers and to Corporate Management on all Payroll matters.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10+ years of experience in the Payroll area, which will include a minimum of 3-5 in a Managerial role. A degree is required and an Advanced degree would be preferred. Experience with large scale computerized Payroll systems is required, and experience with Union and Non Union personnel would be an asset. Strong knowledge of State and Federal Tax laws would be helpful as are strong interpersonal and analytical skills. Knowledge of ADP, Kronos, Oracle or other large scale system would be ideal.
Compensation for the position is expected to be in the $150k-$175k range, and will include an excellent benefits package.
