The City of Cambridge is piloting an 18-week parenting education and support program, modeled on Harlem Children�s Zone Baby College, for parents of children pre-natal to age 3. The goal of this program is two-fold; first to provide parents with the most advanced research-based information on parenting and child development and second to enable parents to successfully connect and remain connected to the vast array of beneficial local social services. This pilot project will involve a total of 60 low-income families located in two distinct neighborhoods of the city. The Care Worker will recruit families into the program, provide weekly home visits, and help connect families to local resources. Day-to-day supervision for the position will be provided by the Parent Education Program Coordinator.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
� Recruit parents in the targeted neighborhoods to participate in 10-week workshop series and 8-week playgroup session.
� Keep accurate records and complete all required paperwork: outreach and recruitment forms for each family contacted, attendance at events, home visit notes, family continuation plans, etc.
� Attend workshops and playgroups with assigned parents. Encourage each family�s participation during workshops and playgroups.
� Visit assigned families in their homes once a week with the goal of helping parents understand and practice new techniques and strategies outlined in workshops and playgroups.
� Become familiar with available community resources for children and families.
� With the help of the Coordinator and community�based partners, refer and connect families to services that benefit the development of their children.
� Alert Parenting Education Program Coordinator of any critical concerns.
� Help the Parenting Education Program Coordinator copy and assemble documents for families participating in workshops and playgroups.
� Help create an environment of openness and trust with families.
� Participate as needed in the evaluation of the program.
� Protect the confidentiality of all families.
� Participate in regular staff meetings and supervision meetings as required.
� Attend all necessary staff development activities and training sessions.
� Perform all other duties that may be necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
� Experience working with children as a parent or childcare provider preferred. Some knowledge of family
support principles, child development, and early education a plus.
� High motivation and interest in supporting children�s growth and development.
� Interest in working in a multicultural environment with diverse families.
� Comfortable talking to new people.
� Friendly and non-judgmental; able to relate well with diverse groups and individuals.

Pet Sitting visits are 1 to 4 times a day for typically 3-14 days. Visits are usually between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM. The visits are 30 minutes each. Were you sexually abused as a child at any time between the ages of 7-12 and did you experience depression in the past?

Researchers seek women who were sexually abused in childhood (7-12 years) and who experienced depression in the past to participate in a research study ($70) on emotion and coping at Harvard University.

The study involves two sessions. First you will be invited to complete a series of questionnaires and take part in an interview about your childhood. In the second session, you will be asked to complete further questionnaires and complete a task while your brain waves are recorded through an electroencephalogram (EEG). This procedure is completely safe.

Each session will take up 2.5 hours and you will be reimbursed a total of $70 for your time. Participation times are flexible.

Participants must be
-female with a history of childhood sexual abuse between the ages of 7-12 and have experienced depression in the past
-participants should be between 18-65 years old
-without other experiences of physical abuse in childhood.
-physically healthy, right-handed, and have no history of head injury.

Participants currently taking anti-depressant medications are not eligible for this study.

DoggieDay, voted Boston's Best by the Improper Bostonian 2008, is looking for dedicated animal lovers to be full time pet care providers (PCPs).

Our team of professional care givers visit clients� homes and provide a range of services, from dog walks to playgroups to administering medication to cats or feeding fish. We provide on the job training and our pay rate is among the best in the field! The pay scale averages between $8 and $14 per hour depending on how many visits are done.

PCPs usually work a five day work week with at least two weekend days per month and MUST be available on holidays when our clients need us the most.

In order to qualify for the driving position you must:
Have your own vehicle in good working condition with proof of insurance
Have a valid driver�s license
Capable of being on your feet for extended amounts of time
Be available to start immediately
Above all, enjoy working with animals of all sizes!

All PCPs wear a company supplied uniform (with the exception of khaki colored chinos and either brown or black hiking boots or sneakers which you must supply yourself). The uniform is an integral part of the DoggieDay brand and is required to be in excellent condition for each day that you work.

A minimum of three months is required of all PCPs.
