Abroad101 is seeking an excellent creative designer who fits our mold. We are seeking an individual who can start working part-time (on the order of 10 hours per week) at least into 2010. A full-time opportunity might become available once the designer becomes an integral part of the team and our budget grows to accommodate the individual. Required Skills
• Creative design for the web (Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, or similar)
oo Thorough understanding of HTML and CSS-based layouts
• User interface design for the web
oo Designing page outlines, HTML, and CSS making for an appropriate, aesthetically pleasing, and extremely self-explanatory user interface
oo Conceptual understanding of the benefits “Web 2.0” and AJAX components
• Collaboration with a small but fast-growing team
oo Ability to work in a flexible environment with rapidly-changing priorities and collaborative processes
oo Ability to assist in development of best practices and explicit development processes that will be most effective as the company matures and the team grows
• Self-motivation and dedication to getting stuff done
Beneficial Skills (but not required)
• Experience working with source control (SVN)
oo At least, willingness to learn how to work with source control
• PHP, Javascript, and JQuery knowledge
oo At least, ability to integrate creative design into back-end code
oo At best, knowledge of and experience with the Drupal Content Management System and how to integrate creative elements into it, e.g. through the theming system
We are looking for someone in the area who can meet in person regularly, although you would work from home or your own office most of the time.
