Calling all junior Computer Science grads who like working with people!

Lynx is working with a very special software company: small and yet well-established and profitable, with an impressive and extensive Fortune 500 customer list. They are closely partnered with Microsoft, and their Windows-based products are in use in IT departments all over the world. They have limited competition in their niche, and they are the leading player in their space.

They have a professional, yet friendly atmosphere offering stability, good benefits, teamwork, and learning opportunities to gain hands-on experience with the latest technology out of Microsoft.

They're looking for a junior software engineer, potentially even a recent grad from a good CS program, who likes people and would enjoy working with IT engineers from customers to solve technical problems. This isn't the typical "tech support" call center kind of job, but rather one where you would be writing code and diagnosing and troubleshooting. No travel involved, but obviously a fair amount of phone and email contact with outside customers is central to the job.

Key requirements: CS degree, 0-2 years experience, excellent people skills, passion for technology, experience developing web-based software (ideally with .NET).

Description
This is an Adult Chat Service!
The current IVR system that I use was written in 2001. Written in VB6 with Visual Voice as the
Telephony engine and speaking to a SQL7 database.

I am looking to do three things:

First, to have the current system replaced with an application that is less cumbersome.
At the moment callers can choose the type of woman they wish to speak with through some options.
I want to do away with that and simply play the greeting of every woman (Staff) available for a caller
to speak with at that moment. The caller will make his choice, and we would then process the credit card charge and conference the two lines together and start a timer. At the end of the time, we simply disconnect and reset the lines.

Second, to tie the new IVR application into our new web site to allow customers to order calls from the web using an order system.

Third, I want to have the ability to provide these calls to verified customers using their cell phone.

Software must run on Windows Server 2003 - 2008 and use MS SQL. I will supply copy of database for development. System must be able to keep real time update to and from web site. Future improvements will be Video Chat over Cell Phones as well as Internet.

I can send a detailed flow chart, vox files and database for development.
Lynx has a very good relationship with managers at this successful, profitable software vendor of business information tools, and has made multiple placements there over the last several years.

They are currently looking for a strong software product developer at either the Principal Engineer / Consulting Engineer / Hands-on Architect levels. This is definitely a hands-on role. Technical leadership skills are desirable for future potential projects, but not immediately going to be used.

The key for this role is to have played a significant development role on a large, highly-complex piece of systems-oriented commercial software using Java or C++: something like database internals or access, operating systems, compilers, or similar. Excellent Computer Science fundamentals are really important: BSCS is the minimum, but an MSCS or even PhD in CS would be highly desirable. Experience with technologies such as distributed systems, multiprocessor or parallel processing systems, and/or Artificial Intelligence would be good.

PLEASE: No 3rd party consulting firms, contractors, non-local candidates, and/or candidates not authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Please send your resume for confidential consideration. It's not necessary to apply to more than one posting from Lynx, and if you're already working with a Lynx recruiter, please contact them directly.

Flash/Interactive Developer (Norwood, MA)

About Boston Productions, Inc
Boston Productions is a multimedia production company that produces videos, interactive programs, and immersive theater experiences for museums across the United States. We are looking for an experienced Flash developer to join our staff. Recent clients include: Connecticut Science Center, Hershey Chocolate Company, Smithsonian Institution, College Basketball Hall of Fame, and the International Spy Museum.

Description of the Position
We are looking for a Flash Developer who wants to do more than create button down-states, post videos, or update web sites. In our company you will be creating experiences for museum audiences that teach, tell stories, and entertain in unique and new ways. Sure, some of the boring stuff like creating buttons comes with the job, but hey, nothing's perfect right?

Here are some examples of some of the challenging projects we’ve done:

--a theatrical experience that lets up to 32 people use touch screens to interact with a 3 screen immersive video projection with lighting and atmospheric effects

--a multi-user map table that allows up to four users to explore the history of the town of Hershey through photos, video and other rich media.

--an interactive presidential desk that teaches visitors about Teddy Roosevelt’s policy decisions and allows them to photograph and email an image of themselves as president.

As an interactive developer, you will program touch-screen applications, websites, and other multimedia programs. As a valued member of the production team you will participate in creative development, programming, prototyping software and hardware, and ensuring proper QC of deliverables.

Qualifications
The interactive developer should have a broad knowledge of interactive technologies and in-depth software knowledge in Flash, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop and in technologies like XML, ActionScript, CSS, and HTML.

Helpful skills include familiarity with video encoding for the web and stand-alone applications, the ability to diagnose and solve basic computer problems, and the poise to deal with problems you may have never heard of before. We realize there are a lot of Flash animators and designers out there, but this position is for a person who has a strong knowledge of programming in Flash with ActionScript. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate are extremely important as a project team may include a producer, video editor, graphic designer, scriptwriter, and the interactive developer.

We don’t need you to know it all, but an adventurous spirit is important. We take on a lot of challenging projects that are different than anything we’ve done before, so if you like sticking to just web development, or don’t feel comfortable with integrating animation, audio, video, and interaction together, this probably isn’t the job for you.

To learn a bit more about what we do as developers, check out http://backroom.bostonproductions.com, where we have information about some of the exhibits we've created, the type of work our company does, etc. Our company's main web site is http://www.bostonproductions.com.

Please email your resume and cover letter explaining why you’d be a great addition to our team to Bruce Spero at the email address at the top of this posting. No phone calls about this job please. We’re NOT looking to contract out work to other companies or development firms. We’re looking for an individual to work out of our Norwood, MA office, so please make sure this is a possibility before applying.
