Yup. People sure are idiots when it comes to driving in the snow. I like it when the people in the huge SUV's slide right by where they wanted to turn because they were traveling too fast.
"Oh, it takes more distance to stop my 7500lb vehicle on packed snow and ice? But I have 4 wheel drive!!!" hahaha One other confusing thing to me is the lack of people using their blinkers in a snow storm. Why feel as though you need to surprise the people behind you? If anything, you should signal sooner on slippery roads if you plan on making a turn.
I always just smile, knowing that those people will end up in a ditch freezing while waiting for a wrecker to come pull them out.
The last and most important thing I have to say about driving in the snow... If your tires are no good, don't go out. There are people like me, who spend the money on an extra set of alloys and 4 nice snow tires so we can get around in the snow. If you've got a set of 245/45/17 Michelin Pilot's on your 2002 Honda Civic, you probably should not try to go out in the snow.
If you're from Brasil, Cuba, Mexico or any other country that doesn't have snow, you probably shouldn't try to go out in the snow. Actually, if you're from one of those countries, you should probably get legal and start paying taxes.

Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow!!!

1. Affirmative action has an impact on your life. I mean how pathetic are your skills and intelligence that minorities could do your job?

-- You mean like President of the United States? -- That has an impact on my life since I pay taxes.

2. You get upset over the Celtics, Bruins, Pats and Sox losing. The owners of those teams don't give a fuk about you. Why act like their bitches?

-- I have to admit I used to think that myself. Then I realized: its just entertainment. The fans get bummed when the teams lose because it means maybe the season won't be as long as it could be and there'll be fewer chances to cheer them on. Its fun to do things, even vapid meaningless things in groups. Is cheering the Sox any different than going crazy for a band at a rock concert? You think politicians give a shit about you when you applaud them? You think movie stars or any other celebrities care about any of their fans personally? That doesn't stop people giving them huge paychecks along with all the attention. And movies are far less "real" than sports and the athletes at least do their own stunts. People don't go to the movies just to see the show, they go to yap about them with their friends, or to be entertained on a date. Just like sports. Someday, if you ever get friends, or a date, you'll get that.--
3. You don't have a garage.
-- So that's why all the new houses have their garages stuck out front as close to the road as possible. Its a status thing! And I always thought that it was because they could save money on the shorter driveway..--
4. Your life is impacted by the party (DemocRats/RepubliCons) in office. Take control over your life. You should be smarter than the government and put yourself in a position where the government is irrelevant for you.

How ignorant are you? You racist lib antigun scumbag. Somebody like you won't go through places like "Mattapandolph" without one finger on your speed dial set up to call 911, doors locked, windows up, clutching your "man-bag" and don't make eye contact or "they" will kill you and rape your skank wife, if you have one.
So what if a person decides they want to carry 2 or 3 or fucking 12 guns? It is called the right to bear arms not "the right to only carry one and please make sure it's not too big so you don't offend some whiny faggot who can only talk big from the safety of the cellar". You are a big part of the problem with this country. Always talking shit, never could be bothered to serve your country or your community but always so quick to criticize. We can't lose rights that we fight for but we can give them away if we follow your queer philosophy.
Using the word "Mattapandolph" makes you a racist. It might not be the best town but all kinds live there. You don't have the cojones to live in a town like that so STFU. If someone does live there and wants to call it that and have 25 guns on them, then they have more of a right to do so than you do, candy ass.
Bad guys come in all colors. So do good guys. Some of us know to judge each person by their character and not their color.
The only racist skid mark paranoid polly "loozah" out here is you.
Calling you a fag is an insult to gay people( I am sorry, gay people).

[ deprecating drivel about Western Mass deleted ]

There is no way this state is going to elect a Republican to the Senate. Especially to replace Kennedy. It's just not going to happen no matter how you wish, pray and post on R&R.

I would be mildly surprised to see it happen but it is going to be a closer race than your speech implies. Oh. What happens if Brown is elected? I'd hope you post here with an apology at least, but that would be the same as admitting you're wrong which has never happened yet I imagine so I won't check up.

Electing a Republican Governor isn't even comparible to a Federal position. There is a difference between "I'm going to run this state like a business" and "I'm going to vote for the interests of pro-Business lobbyists" Can you understand the difference between these two completely different jobs? You seem to be confusing them.

Now I'll admit I am confused. Are you saying that the job of a U.S. Senator is to "vote for the interests of pro-Business lobbyists?". Personally, I don't think that is what they should be doing although it definitely is how Teddy spent his tenure there, under the guise of bringing pork to the Boston area to give jobs to "the working class". Myself, and a bunch of other people including the guys that wrote the job description don't think that that should be the job of a Senator either.

As a thought process, do you even realize how close "knee-jerk" and "sterotyping" are. "libs are this", "libs are that", is knee-jerk "thinking".

Not sure where you're going with that one. Please read my post and point out where it says "libs are this, or that". I mentioned that some libs are annoying, just as some conservatives, in knee-jerkyness. You are an annoying lib, but in a different way. You just refuse to get it.

How about this answer to your original question "Why do conservatives hang out around here?". Well, for nearly every liberal here annoyed by a conservative presence, there is a conservative here wondering why the liberals don't just move to North Korea, or at least Venezuela or Cuba if they like warmer weather, so they can frolic freely in the wonderlands their favorite policies create when implemented, instead of fighting so hard to prove themselves so wrong here.

Don't bother replying. You have nothing creative to add.

Just answer the question.
You hate "libs" yet you choose to live in the East Coast epicenter of liberal thought. Why do this to yourself and everyone around you?

Not the OP, but for me, the answer is something along the lines of

1) I don't "hate" "libs", I just find many of them to be misdirected and/or knee-jerk. The same way I find knee-jerk republicans annoying.

2) This may be the epicenter of liberal thought on the East Cost, but it is FAR from a dominating presence. Mass elected a Republican governor a few times recently, and will maybe even elect a Republican (well more like a true conservative) to the US Senate soon. Outside the student and other uneducated poor populations of Boston this state is mostly neutral, and outside 495 its a Red-State proper.

It seems more like *you* are just myopic and think that that the entire state thinks and acts like you and your circle of psuedo-intellectual hipster wannabes or maybe you're one of the Volvo driving limo-liberals that other poster mentioned. The young students I don't mind. We should all have some idealism. The poor I can understand. It doesn't seem fair that there can be such wealth so close, but the limo-libs just suck. Not everyone here has a trust fund or parents with a house in Newton they bought in the 50's to bank on.

Its the other way 'round liberal douche. If it wasn't for responsible conservatives there would be no Massachusetts economy to support the liberal lifestyle: collecting unemployment, trading food stamps for pot, going to college to avoid work instead of learning a skill, spending mom and dad's real-estate-bubble profits, complaining but doing nothing, not even blogging, about the terrible Bush administration long after its relevance, whining about global warming while stopped in bridge traffic with your motor running, windows up, A/C on while driving your Volvo to your cape house, spending 1/2 your day at work reading political blogs on the internet while an illegal immigrant cleans your office bathrooms and piles 8 of his close relatives into the two bedroom condo "investment property" you bought in Framingham, yapping on and on about how you can't wait to vote for Obama and how blacks have gotten such terrible treatment by the Republicans as you place your house in Milton on the market as Mattapan slowly oozes its stench into your precious little Sierra's classroom.

Its over idiot. Massachusetts was the only state that lost population last year, and it would have been much worse if not for the influx of illegal immigrants to double up in hovels like Lowell. The future of this state is Lowell, not Wellesley. California is already toppling, and Mass is not far behind. If you want to see the future, sit for an hour or two in the emergency room at Children's hospital in Boston.

If it wasn't for the *tremendous* spending for military since before WWII which built places like MIT, Raytheon, GE, etc. there would be no Massachusetts economy today. You are living off the remnants of a conservative/republican movement called the military/industrial complex while you sip your latte at Starbucks and pretend to be hip while your liberal parents rethink their socially-sound investment strategy and shift from eco-safe mutul funds into Exxon stock. You can't eat social conciousness. Oh the humanity.

Re: bail - WTKK moron (huh?)

Your weak post was generally not worth the effort to read, but it does show nearly all the characteristics of liberal democratic thought so it makes a good example so I've decided to analyze it.

First, you equate the transmission power of a radio station not with its commercial success but with some implied sinister indoctrination group. And you managed to spell "by" as "buy". Why do liberals think everything is a conspiracy? Because refusing to take the blame for you own actions is one of the hallmarks of liberal thought. Its always someone else's fault you aren't a success, and conspiracy theories help you defuse the burden of self-responsibility.

Second, you assume, as in: "... JAMN 94.5, by far the most popular radio station in the area" without any factual data to back you up. In fact, its easy to find such information, and, while 94.5 is a popular radio station in the Boston market (look here for recent Arbitron ratings)it is not the the most popular station, and by far. Looking closer, you can find that Jay Severin's ratings in particular are way above most of WTKKs other programs, and above other JAMN jock's, so one could almost say that Jay Severin is by far more popular than JAMN 94.5, but that's a stretch and I'll leave spinning to the liberals.

Third, you make personal attacks against the messenger. "You think Jay Severin's a stable man? He's a paranoid nutjob." again without any factual content. What you do though is miss the point entirely. Jay Severin could be a rabid lunatic homicidal maniac, but that has *nothing* to do with the message he promotes. If it was Jay that reported the actual bail-money subject, to bring us back on topic, then the facts are either true or not. Right? Does it matter if you heard it from your third cousin's girfriend's aunt with alzheimers? Its still either true, as in this case it is, or its false. Jay just happens to be more correct, verifiably, more often than most political pundits. You would think that liberals, especially the Democrat ones, would be more sensitive to people's various abnormalities and special needs. If a conservative attacked one of yours with charges of mental illness, wouldn't you be the first to point out that that was just another example of cruel insensitivity among the conservative ilk? Anyway, the more you attempt to block a message by attacking the messenger, the more you look like a desperate fool. And by "you" here I mean liberals in general, not just you. Give it a break. Either argue the facts or go home and lick your wounds.

Last, you never even touch on the actual topic from the original post. Why did you even bother posting at all? Did you even manage to get out of grade school? the sequence could be surmised as

OP: "Something unfair happened: listen to this."
You: "That guys a poo-poo head and you suck"

Finally, Jay is *not* a "conservative" in the traditional meaning which most people have confusedly made synonymous with "Republican". He is a libertarian. He, like a whole lot of us, thinks that people should be able to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't hurt others but at the same time he doesn't want to pay for the failures. Its really that simple. Now go put your tinfoil hat back on quickly as WTKK drones are flying over your house right now. I heard they are programmed to home in on radios tuned to JAMN 94.5.

RE: Restaurant Advice (Newton) (Newton)

Having patronized that particular restaurant over the years, I have pretty much stopped going for the most part. Why?

1. The decline of good service. This is arguably the main reason I no longer go much, if at all. I used to eat there all the time until one Saturday night where it was busy (not unexepected; it was summertime). A friend and I got a table for two near the back and were promptly ignored for at least 30 minutes without having our order taken. I finally had to flag someone down to take our order. Why did I wait you ask? It was a Saturday night and by the time I drove somewhere else and waited to eat, it would be no better. I've had similar service experiences two times since (once for lunch and once for dinner). Your high school-based staff needs to step it up, or people like me who actually liked the establishment stop coming. Good ice cream and decent food aside (their onion chips are really good), the hassle isn't worth it. What you provide isn't such quality I can't go elsewhere for something similar or better. In fact, if I want somewhat surly, yet decent service and better food than you I'll just go to S&S. And I do.

2. Shitty soda mixture. Seriously - the Coke mixture is not only inconsistent at said restaurant, but horrible every time no matter what. The other flavors are just as bad. Here's another area where S&S excels. It's a matter of not being cheap and having enough syrup in the mixture.

3. Can they be any cheaper on the salad dressing? You get one packet. Gee, thanks. That scoop of tuna and/or egg plus some veggies really set you back. I can see where giving me enough salad dressing would be a problem. If you ask for more, you get the proverbial stink eye.

4. I can afford to pay cash and understand where cash only is an advantage, but it is inconvenient in 2009 when I can even use my ATM or credit card at Tedesci for a pack of gum. At this point there can't be a mortgage to pay off. Suck it up.

5. Parking is an absolute nightmare. That little lot behind the place is a joke. It's a major contributing factor in the past of whether or not I even bothered to stop.

6. Why the hell are they closed on Mondays? They are not a hair salon. They're an eatery. It's not like they're a Kosher establishment where you would understand if they closed early on a Friday and were closed on a Saturday. They're a mom and pop version of Friendly's who have no excuse not to be open on Mondays.

7. To be fair, I have seen minorities working there over the years. I've been there enough. There are definitely some in the kitchen ...

I still haven't figured out why I really haven't met any decent people in this area after living here for a little over one and a half years. I have gone to clubs and bars, several social events, and I have posted listings on here and a couple of other websites and still have came up empty handed. What gives? Are people so busy that they don't have the time for friendship? I honestly don't think that's the answer. What I think happens is that people say they want friends, but when it comes right down to it they don't. Why? Probably because they are insecure themselves or maybe it has to do with something entirely different. Anyway, I just had to vent a little bit. It helps to get it out of my system.

I just spent $480 on repairs to the front end of my car, bushings, control arm bushings... link bushings...etc.. The thing feels great to drive now.
HOWEVER... How long will it be, before I need to get them all replaced again? The fucking potholes are unavoidable. Everytime I hit a pothole, it makes me want to smash a state emplyoee in the fucking face. I think that a car should have sensors built in to monitor how many potholes the driver hits. At the end of each month, you should get that amount in dollars back.. ORRRRR... You should be able to punch a state/town worker in the face, with brass knuckles.. ORRRRR... Take a state/town vehicle and drive it up the ass of highway dept. employee. These people CLEARLY aren't doing their job. Well... State/town employees.. Obviously they're not doing their jobs...

Restaurant Advice (Newton)

Having worked in the restaurant industry for the last 10 years, I have encountered many people who, in my professional opinion, are totally fucked up. In order for the staff, as well as fellow patrons to have a pleasant dining experience, please follow the below listed rules.

YES, WE DON’T TAKE CREDIT CARDS

I know this might come as a shock to you, but we don’t take credit cards. Why? The fees. We are a small business, and credit card fees can hurt us. Don’t complain to the manager or threaten to call the cops by telling me it’s the law. It’s not the law. I was a criminal justice major. I know the law. And don’t tell me that the register has a credit card swipe. I know that. It came with the register. We can’t remove it. It’s not activated, so if I would swipe your card, nothing would happen.

WE DO HAVE AN ATM

For your connivance, we do have an ATM in the hallway. I know, it charges a $2 fee. Don’t mutter under your breath and call us a bunch of dirty Jews. We don’t make any of the money off the ATM. The bank does.

Oh, and by the way, it is an ATM – not an ATM machine. ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine.

FEEL FREE TO DRIVE TO THE BANK DOWN THE STREET

Ok, so you don’t want to use the fee charging ATM in the hallway. That’s ok. We have plenty of banks down the street. We have a Bank of America, a Citizen’s Bank, Brookline Bank, Village Bank, and a Rockland Trust all within a 5 minute drive. But, if you want to go, I’ll need your name and number. Don’t get pissy at me, and tell me, “I don’t want to leave you my number, because it’s unlisted and I don’t want to get phone calls from you or be put on your mailing list.” Jesus Christ, lady, we’re a restaurant, not the fucking department store. Do you know any restaurants that call people at their homes and tell them about offers? No. We need your name and number so that way, in case you’re an idiot and forget to come back to pay the bill, we can get a hold of you.

WE WILL NOT WATCH YOUR CHILDREN

With your kids, but don’t want to bring them to the bank? No problem. Feel free to leave them with us. However, be advised that we are NOT babysitters. We’re not going to stand there and watch your kids and tell them to behave, and not to do that, and not to do this. They’re your kid – they came out of your vagina, they’re your responsibility. Don’t get mad at us when your kid, who is climbing on chairs, falls off and hits her head. Don’t say, “Weren’t you watching her?” to me. No, I fucking wasn’t. I was doing my job which – at least when the last time I looked – is to serve my customers. If you want me to watch your asshole child, then pay me.

THE RESTAURANT IS NOT A PLAYGROUND

Please, children, if you want to run around, go outside, or better yet, go to the playground. Restaurants are a dangerous place. There are sharp things, and hot things, and we don’t want anyone getting hurt. And parents, please control your child.

GET YOUR EYESIGHT CHECKED

This goes to the man the other night that basically cut the line and sat down. Sir, there was a line. I know it was long. I understand you don’t want to wait for 30 minutes for a table. However, you decided to eat at the most popular restaurant in Newton on a Friday night. If you see a group of people standing around, don’t cut in front of them and go sit down. Then, you get mad because my manager told you to get back in line, and you say, “There was a line? I didn’t see it!”

WE DON’T TAKE RESERVATIONS

Some tips about calling ahead – we don’t take reservations. Don’t get mad at me – I’m just following policy - and DON’T offer me money to make you a reservation. There are a lot of restaurants that do not take reservations.

And another tip – if you call to inquire about the wait, and I tell you that there is no wait, don’t show up 2 hours later and say, “You lied. You said there was no wait” when someone tells you it will be a 25 minute wait.

One more thing – I am not a mind reader. Do not call and ask if it will be busy the following Tuesday at quarter past three in the afternoon. I don’t know. I will most likely tell you “No” and then hang up.

PLEASE KNOW YOUR ALLERGIES

Allergies. Everyone seems to have them. And some are serious. Like peanuts. If you have an allergy, please inform us. Like I said above, we are not mind readers. We do not know your medical history, nor do we have your Doctor’s contact info on file. If you are not sure of an ingredient, ask. If you forget you’re allergic to something – well, then you just need to die. How the hell do you forget you’re allergic to something?

And for takeout – if I make you something, and it is correct but you return it because you forgot that the person did not like chocolate ice cream, or they were allergic to nuts, and you ask me to remake it, I’ll be happy to. But you will be charged again.

PLEASE KEEP TRACK OF YOUR SHIT

Ok, you lost something – it happens. You call and ask if we found it. We didn’t. Don’t keep calling back every hour for the next two weeks. It didn’t magically appear. Our restaurant is cleaned every night, and if the cleaners found your scarf on the floor, they would have put it on the rack where we hang things. If it’s not there, then you didn’t leave it in the restaurant.

And don’t call and ask if we found something, and when I ask when you lost it, don’t tell me it was like two years ago. Chances are you probably didn’t lose it here. And if you did, we probably gave it to goodwill.

DEAL WITH THE FACT WE ARE NOT HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE

Yes, it sucks that the bathrooms are upstairs, or that there is no wheelchair ramp, but we have been in business since 1969. Don’t flip out on me and say “It’s the law that you have to be handicapped accessible!” It’s not. The Americans with Disabilities Act was established in 1990, 21 years we were in business. Under the act – and bear with me please – as quoted from the U.S. Code Collection at Cornell University:
For purposes of subsection (a) of this section, discrimination includes—
(i) the imposition or application of eligibility criteria that screen out or tend to screen out an individual with a disability or any class of individuals with disabilities from fully and equally enjoying any goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations, unless such criteria can be shown to be necessary for the provision of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations being offered;
(ii) a failure to make reasonable modifications in policies, practices, or procedures, when such modifications are necessary to afford such goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations to individuals with disabilities, unless the entity can demonstrate that making such modifications would fundamentally alter the nature of such goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations;
(iii) a failure to take such steps as may be necessary to ensure that no individual with a disability is excluded, denied services, segregated or otherwise treated differently than other individuals because of the absence of auxiliary aids and services, unless the entity can demonstrate that taking such steps would fundamentally alter the nature of the good, service, facility, privilege, advantage, or accommodation being offered or would result in an undue burden;
(iv) a failure to remove architectural barriers, and communication barriers that are structural in nature, in existing facilities, and transportation barriers in existing vehicles and rail passenger cars used by an establishment for transporting individuals (not including barriers that can only be removed through the retrofitting of vehicles or rail passenger cars by the installation of a hydraulic or other lift), where such removal is readily achievable; and
(v) where an entity can demonstrate that the removal of a barrier under clause (iv) is not readily achievable, a failure to make such goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations available through alternative methods if such methods are readily achievable.

The ADA says that all new buildings after 1992 must be compliant with the law. Any existing building – such as ours – has to become ADA compliant as best as possible. We do not own the building, and the landlord was not able to put in an elevator since it would impede the structural integrity of the building, and we were prohibited from putting in a ramp since it would impede on city property. Don’t threaten us that you’re going to call your lawyer. Your lawyer will tell you the same thing.

Thank you for your continued patronage!
As I read the article, once the O'Connell name was mentioned I knew the preferential bs was going to happen. Anyone else would have the local stormtroopers breaking down their door. The family thinks their shit has a pleasing aroma, especially when around their home base of Quincy. This guy either gets the slap on the wrist or the extreme opposite in reaction to his supposed silver spoon entitlement status.

The other thing is why do these self appointed legal geniuses post their misinterpretations of law? There was one person who commented on the site of the article who said that O'spoiledbrat should get a year for having the loaded gun in his car.
NOWHERE in the article or the attached video does it state that he was charged with anything close to this pseudo law violation. NOWHERE in the article or video was it stated whether or not O'privileged posessed a valid class A license to carry. My money is on him being licensed. It couldn't have been hard for him to get, being one of Quincy's beautiful people.
The chief had better hope there are no reasons to deny the permit in O'snobsworth's history.

One other thing.
If you are willing to get out of your car and look for trouble, don't be shocked when you find plenty of it. None of us really knows what was said or done in those few seconds before the shot was fired.
Could the FF have tried to reach for his badge when confronting O'beyondthelaw? If I were carrying and someone in a hostile confrontation made a sudden, reaching move, they may get themselves shot. It is a reaction born of self preservation. Letting someone make the move in the hopeful assumption that they aren't reaching for a weapon is a fool's choice.

Fuck it, I'm done and I really don't care what anybody has to say about this post, so don't bother.

1. Progressives? - the question is What are the people of the United States going to get? Only a person who is a whore to K street would ask what the politicians are getting. And yes there's been lies - like maybe death panels that want to kill your grandma - like maybe most of the people don't want the public option when actually all of the polls have no less than 60% and sometimes over 70% of the American people WANT the public auction. You mean lies like the Republican Party have been telling since this has all been begun.

2. Do you think Health Insurance is doing fine as is? The odd part is where Health Coverage is severely lacking in the red states. The ones that need it the most have their representatives actively trying to delay or stop the very thing they need.

3. Of course not; neither is allowing women to vote. Is that something you oppose also? Moron

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When it comes to health care, let me ask you three questions:

First, what are the progressives getting? What are those in Washington gaining by passing this health care bill by any means necessary? Bribery, coercion, lies and deception have all been employed — so what is it that this health care bill is really all about?

Second: They say that health care is in trouble; what is the best way to save it?

Third: Is this anything that can be found in the Constitution. Would our Founders have done this?

cheating wives!! husbands are so stupid! (all of them)

God the below is soooooooooooooo true! Men are so easy to cheat on!! Too damn easy! They absolutely REFUSE to believe their wife would even dare! They all think they've married "good women"! LOL
I would complete the questions, but the other wives already covered that for me! Hopefully hubby isn't a Cl'r

Okay ladies, according to statistics women cheat just as much as men (see below). My questions for you are:
How are women much better at hiding an affair than men are? What mistakes do you feel men make when cheating which women dont? Do you think your husband has any idea you have been with someone else? What is the secret to not getting caught? Do you think your husband would want a divorce if he caught you? Would you ever admit being with someone else if your husband asked you directly w/no evidence?
I apologise for all of the questions but I have been surprised by all of the info I've obtained. Apparently women if smart rarely get caught and there's reasons... Thanks

Recent studies reveal that 45-60% of married women and 50-70% of married men engage in extramarital sex at some time or another during their relationship (Atwood & Schwartz, 2002 - Journal of Couple & Relationship Therapy)

Interpreting the Data
In a new study, researchers from the University of Washington explored the recent increase in infidelity, and the changing makeup of the participants. A greater number of older men and younger women have reported being unfaithful than in earlier studies. However, historically, gauging responses in scientific studies of sensitive issues such as sexual behavior has proven to be a flawed science.

According to The New York Times, which cites the University of Washington’s research, the number of young women who report engaging in extramarital sex is not much lower than that of men. The study reports that 30 percent of men and 25 percent of women under the age of 35 have cheated on their spouses, up from 15 percent and 12 percent respectively.

For respondents over age 60, researchers found that 28 percent of men and 20 percent of women have had affairs, numbers that have also risen since 1991, when they were 20 percent and 5 percent respectively.

The rise in infidelity among older people has been attributed to drugs like Viagra and estrogen, and even hip replacements, which increase peoples’ sexual abilities, enabling them to be unfaithful. The ubiquity of pornography has also demonstrably affected individual attitudes about sex.

Perhaps the only thing that has changed about women’s faithfulness is researchers’ capacity to extract the truth. From an evolutionary perspective, Dr. Helen Fisher, a research professor of anthropology at Rutgers University, explains that there isn’t any proof of differences in infidelity rates between the genders in hunter gatherer societies. She believes the perceived disparity today may be culturally induced. Fisher explained, “Men want to think women don’t cheat, and women want men to think they don’t cheat, and therefore the sexes have been playing a little psychological game with each other.”

Terri Fisher of Ohio State University told the New Scientist, “We live in a culture that really does expect a different pattern of sexual behaviour from women than it does from men.”
Dalma Heyn a writer for Wowowow.com and author of "The Erotic Silence of the American Wife" cannot understand why people are still shocked to hear that women have affairs nearly as often as men:
"We remain in deep denial: Our belief that women are somehow innately, characterologically monogamous goes far deeper than we know."

Men want to believe they married a "good girl" and his spouse wants him to continue that belief.

The Arctic Ocean sea ice has shrunk dramatically, to record low levels, the past several summers. Scientists blame global warming, which has raised temperatures twice as fast in the far north as elsewhere.

Gore said polar scientists told him Sunday that the latest data "suggest a 75 percent chance the entire polar ice cap will melt in summer within the next five to seven years."
Gore was rushed to the hospital.

Does anyone know of a place that can do jewelry repairs? Specifically silver? A bracelet my wife has has some issues that need to be fixed. It's silver and I've been googling and yahoo yellow paging and phoning an visiting stores, and am striking out. I don't know where else to post...

Any advice in this general vicinity?? I don't want to buy a new item, this one has sentimental value. I'm amazed there aren't any local artisans.

Thanks!
It'd damn decent if people would be patient & act as though other human beans mattered, but like the person who removed the tags from the tree farm, or the asshole doing brake checks who shot the hotheaded fireman it seems to me that most people only care about their own measly pathetic lives.

Today I am going to take a page out of the movie "Mallrats" & before lunch I'll stick my hand down my asscrack then I'll be sure to wish everyone a Merry Christmas/Happy Channukah/Kwazy Kwanzaa as I shake their hand.
