Youth serving organization seeks professional to serve as Development Director to be responsible for the fundraising activities of the organization consisting of: an established annual giving campaign, new major donor programs, planned giving, and endowment initiatives. We are an established organization with a 54 year history of making a difference in the lives of the young people in our community.

Role
The Director of Development implements a comprehensive fundraising and outreach program for the Boys & Girls Club.

Responsibilities

I. Resource Development Planning
a. Manages a comprehensive resource development plan to raise the annual funds needed by the organization to carry out its mission

II. Corporate and Business Support
a. identify and cultivate corporations, businesses, and individuals who may be in a position to assist the Club.
b. implement a plan to contact these groups, to provide stewardship at appropriate contact intervals, and to maintain records of these contacts

III. Government and Foundation Support
a. Research potential new sources of funding
b. Prepare and submit applications to the appropriate parties & keep abreast of deadlines and reporting requirements.
IV. Marketing and Communications
a. Communicate the Club’s mission at public speaking engagements
b. maintain contact with other agencies, business and community leaders, community groups, print and electronic media for the purposes of exchanging information

V. Solicitation
a. develop solicitation strategies and design materials to make successful face to face solicitations

VI. Major Donors
a. Identify and cultivate individuals and entities that are capable of donating $5,000 or more on an annual basis.

VII. Planned Giving
a. Create a planned giving structure for those who are willing to give.

VIII. Endowment
a. work with executive director, board of directors and planned giving specialists and resources to research, establish, and market an endowment program.

IX. Record Keeping
a. develop, maintain, and update the appropriate record keeping and filing systems to ensure that all donors are recorded and acknowledged in a timely fashion.
b. use Donor Pro to document and to dictate donor contact for the purposes of solicitation and stewardship

X. Board Reports
a. make written and verbal reports to the Board of Directors as needed

XI. Stewardship
a. ensure that all donors are acknowledged for their generosity in a timely manner and in a way that they deem appropriate and meaningful.
b. coordinate stewardship efforts to show appreciation to donors and to cultivate new donors.

Qualifications

• A four year post secondary degree from an accredited college
• Fundraising Experience.
• Presentation skills and personality
• Experience closing deals
